My Grandfather, Felipe Dubois, fought for the SS Charlemagne Division (33rd Waffen SS) in WW2 to stop the spread of "Juice" Bolshevism. He was Nancy, France, which was in the north outside of the Vichy Zone. He volunteered in 1944. He fought in a lot of battles on The Eastern Front starting in early 45 until the end of the war. He made it to the American Zone and surrendered in May of 45. He was treated like crap after the war as a POW before released. He then volunteered for The Legion in 50 and fought there for 3 years until wounded in the leg with shrapnel at Lai Chau in December of 1953. So he fought on 2 losing sides in an 8 year period. He came back to France after serving in The Legion, and couldn't find employment, so he moved to Canada in 55. He ended up having 3 kids, including my mom in 1955. He didn't talk much about the war, but he HATED all communists until the day he died. Anyhow, great video!

Several danish waffen ss soldiers fought in berlin till the end of the third reich , and at least one had a meeting with the leader him self dishing out iron-crosses at random , and several danish waffen ss men survived the ordeal and managed to fight there way out of the encirclement and walked home to denmark and tell about it in books.

This is History, and history should never be forgotten every side of war commits crimes, are we gonna talk about the US crimes and Iraq and Vietnam? No, are we gonna talk about the American crimes in Japan? No. Are we going to talk about Soviet crimes in Europe? No. yes of course some German divisions committed crimes, Most German soldiers were like you and me, the same as British soldiers, even the same as any other side. they are just doing their service, I have seen comments people are angry that you report on SS divisions which is stupid, this is a massive part of European history and should not be forgotten, You guys are doing such a good job reporting on history that has been hidden away for too long, I learn so much from your videos, thank you.

i'm sick of this 'also' nonsense. we've all been thoroughly saturated with biased historical accounts of Germany's supposed crimes for the past 80 years. let's not afford these people what they want by starting every discussion with "yes, Germany did bad things, _but_ ...". i'm truly of the belief that Germany committed no crimes during WWII. none of significance anyway. they were completely justified in everything they did, and were only brutal when forced. Germany only wanted peace. so let's start directing the focus entirely onto the numerous allied crimes, unapologetically. it's sad that so few people are even able to list any allied war crimes. this has to change.

@@ilimes Sadly this will never happen. The people who control media and banking will never let it happen. The stories they spread are a strong tool they have been using for the past 70 years to change the narrative of history. A bogeyman story used to brainwash generations into submission while ensuring the simple act of questioning their version of events leads to immediate disqualification based on anti semitism. Imagine a society where asking questions leads to imprisonment , well this is the society we live in .

Interesting and informative. Excellent photography job enabling viewers to better understand what/whom the orator was describing. making this audio book session more authentic and possible. Special thanks to veteran soldiers/civilians sharing personal information/combat experiences.Fighting/perishing/surviving knowing certain death/debilitating wounds were often times possible. Yet still advanced forward regardless of the consequences. That's true grit style determination to succeed!!! Unfortunately those heroic efforts were often times in vain. For the German military forces. Thanks to the disillusioned leadership in Berlin. Whom seldom cared about predicaments/casualties of their military personnel. Moscow's leadership didn't care about predicaments/casualties either. They had ample military personnel/equipment replacements. Giving general Zhukov precise advantages by 1943. Then onwards west to Berlin.

0:42 that iconic photo of the 6th army marching to Stalingrad in the Russian summer heat always gives me chills. Those boys had no idea what type of fight lay ahead; to them, it was just another Soviet city to be taken, but little did they know, they were marching right into the deadliest battle in all of human history.

I own a book about a boy who was a flak gunner outside Berlin just before the fall. Within his account; he recalls joining a group of Nordland SS men fighting in a basement: who in turn stacked up their dead one upon another so they could craw out a side window.

Germany's military tactics of Blitz Krieg or lightning ⚡ fast war is only effective in small countries like Poland, France, Iraq, Greece etc etc in a non nuclear weapons environment but when it comes to large countries like Russia, USA, China, Brazil and India etc , this Blitz Krieg technique is definitely going to fail because of the strategic depth of the large countries due to their enormous size but on the other hand Russian Military technique of deep battle, double envelopment of the enemy by significantly penetrating the operational depth of the enemy is quite effective to conquer large countries in a non nuclear war environment.

Germany's achilles heel in Russia was their supply lines. Cut off their supplies they're doomed. In addition, Russia would send suicide waves at the Germans. The lovely commissars were definitely criminals. Life meant nothing to them for the poor Russian peasents that were used as cannon fat tar.

What one must remember is that all soviet photos and films showing combat are staged. Without exception, each photo and each film clip had to be vetted by myriads of political officers and propaganda specialists. This was to insure the political acceptability of those clips and photos. For instance, it was treason (!) to show an American truck. This implied the Soviet Union could not supply transport vehicles. Which was true. At the beginning of the war, Stalin stated he’d rather have tanks than trucks, except for artillery towers. Even those had to be imported. Only later in the war were trucks looking suspiciously like Studebakers and other American brands shown. They were reverse engineered and directly copied from the originals. In 1937, Stalin convinced himself he had literally endless manpower in the case of war - which he was planning against Germany. Thus, millions of needless deaths of the Soviet proletariat followed. A direct quote is “Do not tell how many we lost, tell how many the enemy lost.” So, casualties did not matter so long as they could boast a (small) victory. Cheers!

So.... Nords do not live in Germany or Romania? You do realize you could be born a Scandinavian and be in Germany or Romania? Thus you would be a German or Romanian, yet still have the prerequisites. Genetics. Did we just assume by nationality or did we make sure these men were not genetically Nordic? Being in Germany does not mean you are not Nordic stock. In fact, in Germany it is nigh impossible some of you are not. If we all ignore the fact they are the same people anyway if you go back far enough. 😅
