Germany's Last Crown Princess: Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin

Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin - perhaps a rather unknown figure, forgotten to history. Cecilie is most famously known for being the last Crown Princess Germany ever had. At the beginning of the 20th century, she was a well appreciated member of the Imperial family and a fashion icon throughout the German women. But when the German Empire fell and with the Nazi’s later coming to power Cecilie more and more withdrew herself from the public eye. After the end of the second world war and with the red army approaching Potsdam, the last Crown Princess of PRussia was forced to board an overcrowded refugee train towards the west. She spent the remainder of her life in Bad Kissingen, a rather tiny village in today's Bavaria Germany.

Being a Princess certainly does not guarantee one a happy life. My heart broke for this woman. So much tragedy. Two of her sons died. So much upheaval with war and moving around and she married a snake for a husband. Not only did he cheat on her but he abandoned her and his children. May she rest in peace.

Quite right, and yet many young girls long for becoming one or another Princess, instead of enjoying life more private and more lucky. There are some examples of young girls who married men from royal families and ended up tragically. 😊♍👍

Her daughter Cecilia married an American soldier a monument man who saved the palaces art work- the Madonna. They met when He was asked to be interviewed by Cecilia's relative Leopold at the palace. She moved to Texas and then had one child herself before dying in 1974.

She was born 70 years before ME, on the 20th of Sep. 1886. 😊♍ Later, still alive, she became namesake for one four-stacked luxury trans-atlantic liner. As well, her husband still alive became to a namesake for the most famous German 'Fourstacker', the 'Kronprinz Wilhelm'. Later his name adorned too the stern of one dreadnought battleship of the German Imperial Navy. Next to Kaiser Wilhelm II, the couple entered the history of shipping as one of the few, alive to become namesakes for big liners. ♍

Cecilie was German Crown Princess on her wedding day. She was never 'of Germany'. Her father-in-law was German Kaiser. He was never 'of Germany'.

Though very interesting, many important historical details have been left out. And btw her husband was, even before he married Cecelia (under duress of his father, the last Kaiser) an awful, arrogant, narcistic, disastrous human being, if possible worse than his father. He treated Cecelia (a saint) worse than his many, many mistresses. During WWI he was such a failure in the army that his father had one of his generals attached to him, with the authorization to override any military decision the Crown Prince made. Several of this couples sons (as many uncles and nephews) enthusiastically joined the Nazi party. What an awful family poor, poor Cecelia married into.

@@BackToHistoryYT hi.. this is weird...but on your videos... why don't you try like ur predictions of the future of the british monarchy.. like what u predict may happen to prince william or prince george in the future.. names that u could see come back again as regnal names etc. i know the station is called back to history.. and ur stuff is good.. but that may be an interesting topic too potential future stuff that u could see happening.. anyways take care :) and keep on making videos!
