Living next to Cologne, having been living in Frankfurt for about 10 years and travelling very often to the other 3 cities for business reasons, I have to state, that this review is spot on! 😊👍 Beside Oktoberfest the biggest city events throughout the year worth mentioning are "Hafengeburtstag" in Hamburg (first weekend in may), Berlin film festival (in february) & fashion week, Frankfurt's "Museumsuferfest" and... of course... Kölner Karneval (feb/mar) & CSD (first week in july). CSD is not only for the LGBTQ-community, but very welcomed in Cologne for beeing some kind of "carnival in summer". 😁

Frankfurt on the Main isn't just that typical "city", where "business" runs, there is a lot of nature in the northern districts, that are most likely little villages (even it is still a city district of Frankfurt). It is just beautiful to ride your bike along the Main (river) that flows into the right tributary Nidda (river). Since 1993 the Nidda has been partially restored to its natural state and a bicycle path built along the river. For me is Frankfurt a little village, where every original Frankfurters knows their people. Sitting in Batschkapp or in a restaurant, drinking your 'Ebbelwoi' and eating your 'Handkäs mit Musik'.

As a Hamburg citizen who's been basically in every corner of Germany, I think the people in our city are very friendly and actually speak more than i.e. the average Munich citizen. Hamburg is also very multicultural and open minded. I think we got this reputation from the Schleswig-Holstein people, they're friendly but you need to understand them in order to recognize it really. Frankfurt is the place where a few of my family members were born and raised, I think it is a weird city because it's got the skyscrapers on the one hand but also a very beautiful old town on the other hand just next to the skyscrapers and I somehow like it. However the people of Frankfurt are mostly either rich workaholics or very poor. What I like about Berlin is that it basically is the what I'd call politically and historical capital of the world since you can really see that this city went through everything a city can go through in its history, really. It has some beautiful architecture, open minded and down-to-earth people and a lot of interesting lost places you can visit. Munich is not for me, though. Yes, the city itself has some beautiful architecture, I love BMW and beer (however, the real home of beer is the region Franconia), they have a lot of culture but I don't like their people. To me it seems like they think they were something better just because they're from Munich. Here in Hamburg we love to call bavarians 'northern austrians'

Cologne was our least favourite and we did not find a lot that interested us to see, maybe that was because it was Monday and anything we wanted to go see was closed. Frankfurt was really really busy and we could not find anywhere to park even though there were parkades. There was a lot of construction going on so when we tried to go to places we were road blocked. We have family in Hamburg so we will always visit there and we love the Hamburg. It is clean, there is lots to see. We went to Berlin and really would like to go there again. We did not see everything we wanted to see so another trip is definitely in the plans.

Supervideo! Sehr informativ, gute Texte, gute Bildzusammenstellungen von euren Reisen dorthin. Wirklich gelungen! 😁

Och... Die Frankfurter Skyline, macht schon was her!

Frankfurt (am Main (on the Main river)) is also called Mainhattan. Hamburg, the city I fell in love with in 2003 and have been faithful since then. Beautiful parks, canals everywhere more than 4500 bridges (ie more than Venice, London, and Amsterdam together). Huge venues for music, as well as cozy little clubs offer music for any and every taste (once this damn pandemic is over). It is also the seat of the Robert Koch Institut, the RKI which continuously updates the numbers during the pandemic, and also one the world's foremost research centers on any new diseases as well cures for them. Museums, clubs, zoos, parks, theme park style rides during the four times a year Hamburger Dom fair. Also one of the main software centers in Germany. For me personally, Hamburg tops every other German city I have been to or even lived in.

Neukölln and Wedding is a mixture of cool and dirty, it has the most population of foreigners, for example one street with almost only Arab shops but around the corner many cool bars (Neukölln Sonnenallee). You get the greatest middle eastern and Turkish food there. These districts are also known for being a working-class area and a poor area but due to gentrification there are a lot of hipsters, students, gallerys, rising rents, and people with money too, who want too live in a cool area by pushing the people away who used to live there. Charlottenburg and Mitte are clean and fancy. The rest is normal, not dirty. It has many parks, lakes and forest too

One thing you could mention about Munich is 30% of the population is foreign. You can hear dozens of different languages walking on the streets.

Hallo Leute! Thank you for this video! The only german city that I visited is Berlin, and I LOVED it! (And Frankfurt because I landed there ☺️) I'm actually looking at studying in Germany next year, so which city is the best for a foreign student in your opinion? What do you think about Göttingen? I look forward to receiving some opinions!

I think it really depends on what you’re going to study 😅 Cities like e. g. Darmstadt are multicultural and a good spot for scientific purposes in terms of studying 😄👍🏼 So every of Germany’s ‚university cities’ has kind of a specialisation on certain courses, of course in major German cities there is almost every subject offered for studying.. but as well consider that you should make a list of a few different universities which are interesting for you, maybe you don’t get approved at the one uni you wanted to visit because there are already too many people waiting on hold, so it’s always good to keep a plan A, plan B, C etc. 😂👍🏼 I wish you all the best for your future adventure in Germany and I also hope you will find a city that suits you! ☺️🙏🏼

@DepressedUnicorn13 thank you very much for your feedback and great advice! 🙏 I'll keep an open mind then and have a plan A, B, C ... 😆 There is so much that I want to see in Germany, that I won't be sad if I don't get in my first option 😊

My cousin studies in Münster right now and I think the rent prices aren’t too high because there are so many students. ☺️ I live in Berlin and in my neighborhood is the Freie Universität and I think there are many options. But I’m not sure about the rent, so...yeah. Maybe Google can help you. XD

I really enjoyed this video! Would love if you made a future video on other areas in Germany. I also wonder how Germany is for people who are not white, and am wondering experiences around that. As you are probably aware, that has been a huge issue in the US of late, and I am wondering how Germany compares. My cousin and her biracial family have recently relocated to Germany (military family) and it has been something that has been on my mind as she has two young children (4 & 7). Thank you for sharing your time with us.

The modern Germany is very diverse (especially the big cities). Of course there is always racism but that comes often from older people or in smaller cities or villages. But I’m white so I can’t really say that I know what’s going on haha.

Look for YTs who made a decision to live and study in Germany. Like Hayley Alexis, Soldier of Life, Lempies, Gazelle Shima, Zoe-Marie, etc. I think there is the occasional idiot who gives his reaction. But in general there should be no issues with systematic racism. But then I am white and German and have not been in the shoes of someone who looks different (not just the skin tan).

I'm from a Saxon town and we visited Hamburg and Berlin with the whole class. For everyone who doesn't know: in Germany we have something called "Klassenfahrt" and it translates to school trip but it's not just for a day, a "Klassenfahrt" is going oln for usually 4-5 days. In Hamburg (in 8th grade) we saw a lot of cool indoor activities like the Humbug Dungeon and in Berlin (in 10th grade) we visited a lot of political and cultural things like the Reichstag. I liked both cities a lot but I wouldn't like to live there, I'm a town person '^^

Hamburg !

Berliner here living in San Francisco, totally recommend anyone to visit Hamburg and Berlin, amazing cities. I believe anyone would love em, there is so much to do. Berliners might come across as cold to some but ones you break the 'wall' (LOL) they are some of the most kinda hearted helpful people. One of the things I miss in the US as a Berliner is the fact hat I can go out by myself and meet people I join to move around town for some bar and club hopping! DO IT! VISIT BERLIN, or Hamburg :). The others are fun to but those two are the best for fun without being richt (talking to you Munich :) )

Speyer.. nice flair, good restaurants, wounderful sightseeings (e.g. dome, aircraft tech museum) Lüneburg.. nice old city with the highest bar desity of germany Heidelberg.. only area around the castle/ old city though.. very nice shopping area. Bamberg.. nice weather, nice sightseeing, nice breweries and a lot of very nice hidden and peaceful places to relax. Hamburg.. green, big city and northern humor/ life style and as bonus: the habor and reperbahn of course. A very special mix.. 2nd to no one. I had been in Frankfurt (most of those that claim to love and live Frankfurt are not meaning Frankfurt, but the nice area around Frankfurt though (my 2 cents) Munich .. I can agree.. but you know.. to expensive and the city feels to scattered/ thorn apart a bit to make it into my top list Berlin.. you said it.. it's all at the same time.. not my world.. Have been there 3-4 times (as all the others as well) But for Berlin as for Frankfurt a visitor is in desperate need for a local tour guide to find the nicer places Cologne.. never had been there..
