I love watching a skater who brings character to their performances over someone who is able to just do a ll the difficult elements. Like, dang does she have great conviction when it comes to her programs.

God bless Katia and her daughter. She looks so much like her father. Sergei would be so proud of Katia and his daughter. Bless her for having the courage to do the best she can by herself. What a wonderful lady she is. I would love to meet her on person.

Браво, Катюша! 👏👏👏👏👏 Какая же сила воли и это после всего, что ей пришлось пережить... Да храни её Господь, также как и её дочерей: Дашу и Лизу. И пусть всегда у них всё будет хорошо!

After two Olympics I thought Katia was someone who simply never made a mistake. Obviously when she lost Sergei she lost a lot of things we don’t understand, like the confidence and even competition of having the man you love completing a jump next to you and being worried about how you’re doing.

Ja das sehe ich auch so. Sergei fehlt einfach.

I am Katia´s fan, too. Do you notice that at the end of video (7:40) in the kiss and cry area Katia is close to tears. It´s so sad. I was close to tears, too. She was so brave she continued skating without Sergei. So hard for her.

Katia was so used to being thrown into jumps which placed her into landing position. It must have been a big adjustment for her to jump and land as a solo skater. She had no problem with confidence or filling the ice when skating in a pair. It must have been such a stressful and sad transition for her.
@biancahotca32443 жыл бұрын
Yes she was thrown into her jumps, but she also had to do one's on her own, even as a pair skater, but maybe the jumps in singles are harder ?, I don't know.
@toxic-low-key-ghost79342 жыл бұрын
@@biancahotca3244 they are the same, but Katia was never able to do triples, she only did them once in competition in 1990 I think . I don’t mean to be harsh but she always struggled with jumps. It has nothing to do with the transition to pairs skating. As a pairs skater she often made mistakes on her double axel. However doing triples must have been hard for her since like I said, she never did them in pairs, only once

Kati’s is wonderful and a great pair’s skater. She loves to skate and is doing her best as a singles skater which is hard. She loves to skate with her daughter.

Not being a skater but being a fan of skating my whole life, I can only imagine how difficult it must’ve been to transition from pairs skating (not only with her partner, but with her husband, the absolute love of her life and the father of her child) to the world of singles skating. I give her ALL THE CREDIT IN THE WORLD. Name for me just ONE female pairs skater who has transitioned seamlessly into a successful singles skater. Ok, name one who has just TRIED to transition. You can’t, right? The only one I know of is Katia. (Maybe there have been others long before her but I’m not familiar if there are). I think she was a courageous, gutsy lady to continue skating and to do this. She didn’t just lay down and die. She challenged herself to the hilt and tried to do something very very difficult. And for that, she gets all of my respect and admiration.
@biancahotca32444 жыл бұрын
To me it doesn't make sense why it would be hard for her to transition. I mean, it seems a lot easier in many ways. It's just that you're not doing elements with another person.
@andrealovett43454 жыл бұрын
@@biancahotca3244 There is an entirely different set of skills and focus on the elements. Some skaters compete at both at a young age. Kristi Yamaguchi and Jennifer Don to name two. Kristi had success as both and then switched her focus to only singles skating, which includes more jumps, no lifts, no side by side turns, etc. Both are incredibly hard to master. Katia was able to switch disciplines rather late in a skating career, which speaks to her athleticism, showmanship, and abilities.
@mrskaa75847 жыл бұрын
I love this program, the footwork, the expressions, the flexibility, doing so much more than the usual jump after jump, we know Katia can jump, but we know it is not her strong point. I would rather see her doing fun programs with her beautiful edges and lines than watch her hopping around trying to gain points.
