I just want to say that as a now 25-year-old, your videos helped me go through my rough teenage years. Watching your videos along with other Japanese cooking channels was like therapy to me, and I just want to say thank you so much for being an integral part of my young adult experience. Coming back to this channel after years gave me a surge of nostalgia and I found myself grinning from ear to ear 💕

I LOVE jajamen! My parents often call me over to their house for my help with lifting up heavy items or other hard work tasks they can't handle any longer. As thanks, they often give me a bag of vegetables they've grown in their garden - cucumbers among them, which I always use to make jajamen. I'm always happy to try a new recipe and can't wait to try!

As a foreigner living in Japan (FOR A VERY LONG TIME!), I am VERY happy to see you continue making your traditional/basic (real) Japanese dishes. ~~~~~~~ I grew up in my own country, and had NO (zero) training on how to ACTUALLY make Japanese dishes (Just foreign KZfaqrs only teaching their versions, often with many changes - to make their versions "stand out" from the "normal" recipe.) ~~~~~~~ I now have lived in Japan, and have been married for MANY years. I WANT my food to impress my spouse ("Wow! this is even better than my mother makes!") (This is the GREATEST compliment I hope to receive from time to time!) But I don't have anyone I trust to teach me the "proper way" (that is not a relative, someone with very strong personal opinions "their version is the 'best/right' way!") ((AND I do NOT want to ask my mother-in-low -- [she is not actually a very good cook, she was a working mother who just made things "quickly/easily" -- not with any tradition of "good recipes passed down to her from her mother...' ..... [despite "hiru-dramas", NOT every mother stayed at home, while the husband was the "salaryman" and the wife was a "senmon-shufu". Many women/mothers were out there working hard for their money and did not have the time or energy that ideal "dramas" portray -- life is harder than TV shows pretend to be.] ☆[and honestly, many wives did NOT get along with their mothers/mother-in-laws to patiently teach the "right" way to cook things!!! - It is a GREAT image, but it is not the reality o life!] So, I am Soooo HAPPY to find your channel - You carefully explain EACH step very carefully and clearly!!! I feel like you are the 'mother I WISH I had growing up to teach me these things! I was VERY SAD when FRANCIS passed away (I am sure you were very sad too). I was sad for Francis -- (and I was VERY sad for you too) -- I was worried that you would not continue to make these videos... But I HOPE YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH THESE VIDEOS HELP SOOOO MANY PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF THAT ONLY HAVE YOU EXPLAINING THE "Right Way" to do things (with English subtitles). There are THOUSANDS of US who REALLY appreciate YOUR HELP!!! You are the (step-mother / mother-in- law / actual MOTHER) that we wanted/ needed growing up!!! PLEASE KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!! It helps more people than I think you realize. You are just the RIGHT amount of ①authentic, ②patient, ③clear/easy to understand ④REAL (not afraid to show a few mistakes (so we know we are not crazy when we make some kind of error)... JUST THE RIGHT KIND OF TEACHER SO MANY PEOPLE WANT to learn from. Thank you for ALL you do!!! ありがとうございます。いつもお世話になっております。m(~ _ ~)m~♪♪ これからも宜しくお願い致します!!! ♡♡ ~~~~~~~~~~~ _I_ love your recipes!! AND my SPOUSE "OFTEN!" compliments my food!!! Spouse: "Wow! This is SO GOOD!! - How did you learn how to make this?!? Even I don't know how to make this the right way! Mmmm, this is SO good!" == (My FAVORITE compliment!) ****************************************** (Hopefully the Narrator/Producer will be able to translate ALL of this comment for you to fully understand how much you are appreciated by your loyal fans.) Thank you Narrator様 for ALL you do to make this possible for the rest of us!!!!

@@d_xnii You've never lived here, have you??? Unless if you're a buddhist or a radical vegan orthodox, you'll have a very hard time looking for strictly vegan dishes. Shojin ryori is almost exclusive to Buddhist temples. This means that it is not a viable option for the entire period of your trip to Japan, unless you always stay in a shukubo. Of course there are many TRADITIONAL dishes exclusively cooked with vegetables and tofu, but don't delude yourself thinking there are lots of vegan restaurants or Western vegan dishes here. Maybe in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya or Osaka you'll find some tourist restaurants offering those dishes. But do not delude yourself: they are very little tiny shy businesses, not easy to find.
