People in Florida should be prepared due to hurricanes. Hurricane season starts June 1. Trust me the power goes out, freezers defrost, gas pumps and ATMs don't work. Have a small grill, canned food and a manual can opener.

I lived in snow country for 5 years. There were times snow drifts were 4 to 6 feet up the side of the house. We had no choice put keep things on hand to make homemade soups and baked goods. Most houses in snow country have basements. What a joy to have a basement! Thanks, girls for sharing all your fab advice. It's when I taught myself how to knit! And make bread products. If you have a basement, for goodness sakes put a freezer in it!

To keep mice out of our camper I the small plastic trays for wax melts for warmers. I melt wax and add a good amount of pepperment essential oil and pour into the trays to cool. I close them up until needed. When putting them out they can be opened or have holes punched in the top. Works every year for us.

I use to only have one car and if it broke down no car and no close store so I learned to buy food and have it in. Also being sick having food in helped. During those times always be prepared if you can...

The cleaning too😳 I am getting the first cookbook for my son who lives close. Thank you, I LOVE your live times with your mom. For those at sea level, flour stores badly due to the humidity. I had to toss two bags within expiration date. I couldn't sift it back into original condition, nor would it disolve in water.

Please, if you're eating only rice, research how to keep up with thiamine demand (vitamin b1). Thiamine deficiency is not as uncommon as people think. Also, vaccines deplete thiamine so please, anyone and everyone, do your own research on getting enough of this important vitamin! Especially during times of malnutrition 👍

Hi. Just saw an amazing reply and wise thought. When the crisis arrives a food is hard to find. WILL MY TRASHMAN TURN ME IN. because, my cans, water bottles, kool-aid wrappers etc are in the trashcan, will the police arrive to circulate my food and goods to there family then. Be cautious with your trash. Burn fire ring or rinse and smash your cans and store in shed. Watch your trashcan foot print.

Please don't make assumptions about "everybody" out east not knowing the we should be prepared. Also not everyone has the extra $20 monthly. My snap (food stamps) is $23 a month. My limited disability income pays my bills and transportation. Not everybody has $1000 of monthly income. Please remember, there are those of us who live below poverty, and we do the best we can. Most of the time I agree with things you say, but sometimes it feels like there's an air of "I'm better than you" floating around. I do enjoy watching your channel. Thank you for caring enough to share your knowledge

I KNOW not everyone back east is in the dark about being prepared. I'm just saying a lot of eastern US citiies have stores within walking distance so people just don't think about it. because it's easier for them to get groceries than someone who has to drive 5,10, 20 or even 70 miles to get them. Yes you can stockpile no matter what your finances. Mom did it on $500 a month, I did it on $300 a month. There are a LOT of ways to get free food if you really want to do it.

@@LivingOnADime and yes, I absolutely agree with you that there are ways to get free food. Speaking for just myself now, no one else, I do have a stockpile put back and frugal knowledge of how to prepare for the future. If I offended you, that wasn't my intention. I've done it on those amounts as well, it definitely wasn't easy, mentioned before as I'm sure you're plenty aware of. I do enjoy your channel and I think you're doing a marvelous, as I

I have a very well stocked food storage. My concern is I live in a ground floor apartment. Even though it is in a better area I am concerned with the fact Apt workers have a pass key and have a right to enter even if tenets are not there. The only lease you can get in our area is tied up so legally in the landlords favor. I’m 70 and love my apt and neighbors.

Start prepping groceries as a financial prep. Groceries are going up and will continue to do so, in addition gas to go additional trips to the store is more money wasted.

I just leave it the bag it comes in. I only have it in the freezer for 24 hrs and that is enough to kill all the bugs. If I am leaving it in the freezer long term I will just put in a plastic bag but I rotate mine out so much that I don't need to keep it in the freezer.

We had a similar situation on Valentine's Day. We went to Columbus with another couple and ate a Brazilian steakhouse that cost more than $50 per person!!! Our waiter kept using what I think was pronoun language and it was very weird and uncomfortable. He'd say things like "What is us going to have to drink tonight?" when speaking to one person. If it would not have been for being there with my husband's coworker and his wife we would have left. After we ate I saw a waiter with a cue ball shaved head and a face full of make up!!!! I told my husband he'd have to drag me back to Columbus kicking and screaming if he ever wanted to go back! But even in our small town of under 7,000 we still see this outward display of mental illness. It accelerated at an incredible rate when the shenanigans started in 2020. It isn't just the make up wearing with men, it's the 25 shades of koolaid hair and more. I mean since when have people been able to go to school and get jobs with washed out teal hair that is also dirty!?! All professionalism and self respect and integrity is gone. It makes me glad I work 3rd shift and get most of my business done before they have all crawled out from whatever rock they live under at noon. I know what is happening because of the Bible but boy is it REALLY hard and oppressive to actually see!!! And I didn't even mention the worst of it.
