Get Body Armour while you still can, especially if you are in the UK or similar countries with growing violent crime and little in the way of legal self-defence is allowed.
I'd personally recommend surplus Police body armour consisting of a front and back kevlar panel with added stab protection in a carrier, these can normally be bought for £30-40 secondhand compared to spending hundreds on a new kevlar vest with panels.
However if you are willing to spend more you can get a much better and more comfortable vest.

Body armor already requires a license in Australia for example. How vile must a government be to ban civilans from owning purely defensive objects

well here in the UK were not allowed to own firearms or other weapons to defend ourselves so the only option for us at this point with all the knife crime is to own a stab/ballistic vests to protect ourselves, I believe that civilians have a right to at least own a handgun to protect themselves in there own home but if thats not allowed then we should at least be allowed to own body armour instead

Lord Admiral Spire , the only reason the UK government are giving as to why civilians/police shouldn’t have guns is that ‘If we have guns, they will too!’ Which is pretty idiotic in my opinion as criminals already have guns. However... Uk gun deaths 2017 - 34 USA gun deaths Christmas Day - 41 You decide if it’s worth it...

For some reason these are Illegal in Ireland I live in a really dodgy area where people are stabbed to death or shot every week and I am not allowed to wear one when I go out late at night for a run. not allowed to carry a knife for personal protection either but good thing the government said that they're illegal otherwise all those criminals that break the law would be going round with knives

Is that in RoI or NI? Either way it's really stupid as you say, if you have no evil intent and want something for protection, especially a vest that cannot hurt other people, you are just protecting yourself but sadly the law seems to hate citizens in most countries now.

build one yourself. if the government doesnt help, help yourself. a few thin steelplates (im not shure what steel is best tho) stichet into an old sweater boom you got a vest. its reliable as shit is worth in gold but to be honest this will propably be a s good as it gets xD

I work pub security and wear a level 2 ballistic, level 1 stab resistant covert vest. (brought new). What is worth more then the vest itself is good situational awareness and the ability and skill to fight back. Don't be put off leaving an area if you feel unsafe, better to be safe then sorry. Keep up the good work.

Plus, most mugs who would try to stab you would most likely go for the torso as it is the biggest target. Doubt many of the idiotic types have any training whatsoever. I remember seeing a video where one guy spends $30 in the US to make armour that stops 9mm, would be interesting to see how that holds up against a knife.

Not much difference in weight between a modern level 2 and 3 vest, it's only when you add ceramic plates that the weight goes up by a big amount.
@CivilSecurity

What about full on plate carriers or any other military style vests? Obviously not for wearing when you go out as they are hard to hide behind a coat. Are they worth it?
@Weaponsandstuff93
@Weaponsandstuff93 6 жыл бұрын
Worth it if you are expecting to be shot at with rifles, otherwise no, due to the extra weight and bulk.
@CrysResan
@CrysResan 6 жыл бұрын
Also with rifle rounds if you get hit repeatedly even if it's like AR500 steel and not ceramic plates, and they manage to hit your plate and not you the blunt force trauma would pulp your insides after a bit. I have seen some of those armor plates stop .50 BMG or .338 Lapua Magnum rounds, and while it might not penetrate if you got hit with one of those in your plate you would either hit the ground hard enough to shatter your skull or your heart would be pulped from the impact or it would stop your heart, give you a heart attack from the blunt force transferred through the plate. Also the main reason for that kind of armor is to let you live long enough to find cover and fight back, you aren't really fleeing on foot with armor that heavy. Mail or Kevlar armor? Might be tiring but with the terrified adrenaline you might be able to run in it. Plate carriers not so much I'd think, especially if you aren't training physically hard for endurance.

A word of caution, kevlar has a limited lifespan, typically 5 to 7 years after which the kevlar weave starts to come apart meaning it's less effective at stopping threats. If you seriously think you'll need the protection a vest offers (security worker/door supervisor etc...) I would never buy second hand. If you buy new you know you can trust the integrity of the kevlar. Alternatively you can get polycarbonate vests which don't deteriorate and also protect from blunt force trauma
@Weaponsandstuff93
@Weaponsandstuff93 6 жыл бұрын
Kevlar expiration is massively exaggerated, and the mail in these vests doesn't expire, the bit that actually stops knives. Would agree for a pure stab vest though polycarbonate would be better. Do some reading on how kevlar "expires" it only truly gets compromised if exposed to water and sunlight constantly, if kevlar is sent off for servicing the panels are inspected and either disposed of or have a new date printed on them. If you are guaranteed to need it then yes a new vest is preferable but if it's a choice between affording a vest or not, second hand is the way to go.
@stockportlad
@stockportlad 6 жыл бұрын
Weaponsandstuff93 I agree second hand is better than nothing but if i were to be trusting my life on something I'd get new. If that vest has maile in then yeah, that's not going to degrade but with time the kevlar weave does become less woven. I've seen it happen in my old vests. There was a news story recently of a lad who thought his vest was stab proof, it was old and it wasn't and he died testing it

One quick comment in regards to the section of this video addressing that most vests don’t go down past the naval: they’re not supposed to. A ballistic/stab resistant vest is meant to protect the heart and lungs, not the stomach. Anything more, you sacrifice mobility, comfort, and it makes wearing a vest more obvious.
@LordDaveKoresh

You know what sacrifices more mobility? A stabbed kidney, liver or even intestines… Size up for protection, stay true to size for mobility. Mil folks go either way.

Kosmos SoC for gameplay, CoP trades varied areas for a few more open maps and polishes the gameplay for more immersion though it loses some of its difficulty edge. If you are more of a sandbox, freeroam without a story kind of guy you can instead install the free standalone mod Call of Chernobyl (it has all stalker game maps and more and has alot of mod support just like the other games but with more cataloging of them) if you want a taste of the series before you buy and play the main games for a immersive storyline.

It's probably more expensive but mail shirts if properly made(riveted) with half reasonable steel are just as effective for protecting against stabs or slashes if they have ever as blades aren't magical and are only marginally better than they were centuries ago. Firearms are what made steel armor less useful, though the first ones up to about the 1600 plate would sometimes protect you. Honestly if you wanted to go full hog you could wear a mail shirt over a Kevlar vest made to stop bullets. It might be cumbersome but I don't think it would actually weigh as much as people would think. Though it's really sad and disturbing that some places considered "first world" are getting so damned bad one has to think about wearing armor in this freaking day and age. Godspeed sir.

@CrysResan
@CrysResan 6 жыл бұрын
Even ignoring spalling those would be pretty damned heavy to walk around in for very long, I think that level of armor is only really viable in an army or militia where you have lots of other guys to help you, vehicles to ride around it or firearms to fight back with after the initial attack, you ain't running too damned far wearing heavy armor plates. Knights who wore plate didn't walk after all they rode horses for a reason.

I can't believe people really rely on body and not more ammo or an extra optic and in the correct I spend my money on broadheads & field tips which go through low-level body armor and staple you to the ground get a crossbow if you can't get anything to protect yourself fast enough put a broadhead arrow through them and take their gun no matter what you put an arrow through somebody they don't so much worried about you so they're worrying about the arrow hanging out of their body❤😂 knowledge and advise to those scared and needing reliable protection a crossbow will

You don’t have the right to criticise the uk police on their duties there is a hell of a lot more to the job than just catching criminals, everyday they are doing a hell of a lot more than you would think like preventing terrorist attacks before they can happen, but no sure you complain about potentially being stabbed and how they should focus their rapidly decreasing budget on preventing knife crime(which they also do without you noticing) over a national tragedy that would effect more people. If you feel the need to buy a stab vest that is absolutely fine but consider that you should equally as much be aware of your surroundings. Not just that but it is people like you that cause mass panic around situations that are a lot smaller than that are made out to be by ‘urging’ people to buy a stab vest makes us look like an uncivilised nation which we are far from. Can i also add that you are recommending people to buy a stab vest that isn’t used by the police which those reasons being that those vests have a limited life time and weaken under the elements of moisture, fluids and change in weather.

Dead right👍. The police have got a lot on when it comes to revenue collecting. Handing out covid fines, bullying the public. It's a wonder they have time for it all Look up Alex Bellfield, the police raided his house numerous times and visited the local pubs daily to "reassure" the public.
