Thanks for the great review, showing what this bag can do. And I really enjoyed seeing all the equipment inside and hearing your thoughts on various items … lots of good info. Stay safe.

Great breakdown but you gotta get yourself a tripod. Can't be easy doing this one handed while filming.

Great review of this bag. I recently purchased one and am trying to get an idea of how folks are using their's. I laughed when you pulled that big bottle of hand sanitizer out. Only because I carry a large bottle myself. A buddy ragged me about it a while back. In addition to needing clean hands in an emergency, I've also used it to dry my feet out after a long march in water-logged boots. It'll also take a spark and light a fire. Thanks for taking the time to share your set up.

John Blount thanks for watching, great idea using hand sanitizer on your feet, I'll have to try it sometime.

The bag it's Too Big for Edc? Can I use it for travel.. Hiking...... A does it all bag?
@Timefraction6 жыл бұрын
Just a little note about the stove you can cut down on weight by using tent pegs and wire mesh instead as it will hold just as well and be much more flexible

I would add color to the fire kit. Its hard to see if you drop it. Also add a few bick lighters not in the fire kit. In other places in the bag, so all your fire eggs arnt in one basket. 👍🏻 good video. This bag looks like its perfect size for edc get home bag. Gyrfalcon looks to huge.

It's interesting that you have your solar panel in a faraday bag, but none of your electronic device.
@lizzardlife6 жыл бұрын
After a lot of research, there are some myths about EMP that are being dispelled, at least in my mind. One is small electronic devices, flashlight, radio, possibly even a phone that are powered off or even better have the battery taken out will survive an EMP. Think of an EMP as a radio wave pulse, one big strong one. If you have a small transistor radio with the antenna down you will still catch that signal but not nearly as much as if you had an antenna the size of a house, then the thing would explode. With the bag generally in my car that provides a level of shielding because the metal car will absorb some of the pulse so some of those small things should be fine. I put the solar panel in a bag because its basically a large antenna and would pick up more of the pulse and potentially get fried.

I’d recommend replacing that rope with some thick heavy climbing rope.

Have you tested your bag? was it heavy?
@lizzardlife6 жыл бұрын
It is heavy, about 35 lbs. In an emergency I would choose what to carry, what to ditch, and what to divide up if I'm with others. It's loaded out for any situation but will be minimized to fit the situation.

can anyone explain what a get home bag is, get home from work or school?? why do you need like 10 differnt knives for that XD
@lizzardlife6 жыл бұрын
Vic Cao A get home bag is just that, a way to get home or to help if all other options fail. It's a backup emergency plan. Multiple critical items is very important. Knives for example, large fixed blade knife for shelter, processing fire wood, protection, and if need be a shovel. Folding knife for general use, multi tool for the hundreds of different things a multi tool can do. Volumes have been written on the subject in various military survival guides. One of my favourite books is, How To Survive The End Of The World As We Know It. Also consider if you were stuck in Mexico City or anywhere, during a serious quake. Or any other serious disaster. Water in Florida or Dominican Republic is difficult to get. A bag like this could seriously alleviate suffering for yourself and your family. This and other preparations turnes you into a resource to help yourself and others rather than being just another victim.

Hmm you said you could not say enough about your little stove, yet you never said who manufactured it.
@lizzardlife6 жыл бұрын
sorry about that, it is the Emberlit Fireant Titanium, I've used it off and on backpacking and I still love it. I have several other similar but larger stoves, however this is the one I will always keep in my get home bag.
@keithhutchison51986 жыл бұрын
lizzardlife ok. Thanks. I mostly keep the pathfinder stove, cup, bottle combo. My wife just has the little folding stove that holds the fuel tabs. I have thought I should carry alcohol stove, but trying to do minimal.
@lizzardlife6 жыл бұрын
My bag isn't really minimal, however I believe the Fire ant stove is minimal perfection. Thanks so much for watching.
