It is vry simple. I get exited means mai exited ho jata hu. For example - when it comes to going to delhi I get exited. I am exited means mai exited hu kissi baat ko lekr. For example, I am exited to share this news with her.

He got shocked. Here 'got' is a linking verb. Linking verbs take either a noun or an adjective. The word shocked is a compliment of the subject 'He'.
