Auditing has highlighted how dimwitted and ignorant the police are of public photography laws and in general other laws whilst interacting with the public under the delusion that they do.

Absolutely. Too much to ask it seems, to insist that these bullies know the Law before you start barking orders at members of the public. Classic case of the toxic combo of ignorance and power. Just this simple interaction is sadly illustrative of how much of a disconnection there is between police and public. And the sad thing is that I suspect she has learned nothing at all from this exchange.

To be honest, in my country it's quite normal to see police officers wearing their trousers tucked into their boots for ages, to the point that the first time I saw one not wearing them tucked I thought he looked unpresentable. But that's the national police, not the police corps operating exclusively in towns and cities.

@@georgezee5173 even though I’m nearly eighty and maybe starting to get a bit old, the only officers (in my opinion)who are ok wearing the trouser bottom tucked into boots are dog section, and thats because of the nature of their work jumping over walls and in muddy conditions etc.. So for me those officers who tuck their trousers into their boots need to pass all the tests for dog section or maybe firearms. One or two of those officers were an absolute shower, they need to shape up and get their act together. Ps, dog section are also allowed muddy dirty boots but as you can see they don’t have any moments of grandeur.

Plenty is my opinion. They should know basic law and people’s rights before being allowed out into the streets, being a sergeant should mean they do know, alas this one just proved how ignorant they are of the laws and peoples rights and that you don’t need any permission to film in public as there is no expectation of privacy in public. It is the police that are being disrespectful not AB.

When they say I want all your details, but this is just a caution. For dropping the litter out of your pocket by mistake. And some people hand over their real details. 100% she started engaging with you! The video is clear. Instead of standing corrected and apologizing for mis-speaking, no, they try to double-down and intimidate you. That does NOT work on AB though and I LOVE it.

Did you notice how at 5mins into the video as the male (Karen) officer touches AB, the female Sgt Karen put her camera on to record and at no point did she declare that she was using her camera to record members of the public as a data controller. This is clear breach of their policy but more importantly it is an offence under GDPR to gather personal data without informing the public

Great post as always AB. Just watched a post by Northern Audits and IMO it was picking a fight with staff from a commercial property. This is a disgrace to Auditing and if you know these others maybe you should convince them that this behaviour will end up with the banning of Photography in Public. Please, if you are able to, get them all together and focus on the Authorities, Mosques, Embassy's, etc not poor people in industrial parks. PLEASE.

If you own a racing cycle, ( Pedal Powered) they can run speeds in excess of the 15 mph limit. If you own a battery powered cycle, and turn off the battery assistance, a rider can pedal more than the limit imposed. How can the police know if you are using battery power or not. Crazy Law.
