Happy Friday, Michelle! I am enjoying the last few days of my spring break, so it was nice to watch your video in the morning instead of waiting until after school. I especially love these vlogs where you review the past month and prep for the upcoming month. They motivate me to do the same and to be strategic about my plans. I loved hearing your book updates. I have been checking out books at free little libraries in my area. I can replace what I take with a book I have read and don't need anymore. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead! 💜

I always forget that kettles are not very common in the US (I'm from the UK) because it was so funny to me when you were talking about an electric kettle and being able to hear it boil 😂!

Loving all the vlogs! Thiftbooks is my favorite sight to buy used books. It's all online. They are often under $5.00, and you can earn a lot of free books if you shop there often!

I’m an ELA teacher who also loves to read. Recently I started listening to a lot of audio books so I have more books to suggest to students. Libby is a great place to start if you want to try that as an option to increase some of your reading!

I’m unfortunately not an audiobook person and don’t think audiobooks are the same as reading… for this year long challenge, I’m only counting books I actually read.

I am mostly a fiction reader so I have never checked out non fiction selections, but I have a few places that I shop for books at a reduced price. Thrift Books, Book Outlet, and The Green Valley Book Fair. I went to Green Valley last year and spent three hours browsing and it was amazing. All three places have online ordering available. If you are ever back in the Maryland area visiting, The Dollar Book Shuffle in Laurel, Delaware is good too. Everything is a dollar, but you have to take the time to look and they don't have an online store.

Thanks for sharing Nicole! I don't think I'd be buying many books when visiting Maryland because then I have to transport them back home which would be a struggle since I usually just do carry on luggage. There are plenty of options for discounted books near me that I can visit!

Awesome vlog! I know you will get a lot of questions about this, but where did you get that sweatshirt with Ember on it? I need to get one made with my cats! Love! I would love to hear more about your no spending month. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do, maybe with my husband. I took Spanish for 6 years in school and LOVED it. However, my Spanish has improved significantly since marrying my El Salvadoran husband in July 2022. His English is limited, so we communicate almost completely in Spanish. 😊

22:47 The last IPAD I had was probably one of the first versions (2012?). LOL, It didn't have the small plug it was the large plugin port? If that makes sense my family is big with Google and uses Samsung and Google Pixel Tablets. Honsely have no idea what happened with that IPAD, I believe my brother sold it on Etsy or something.

Would you be able to make a video about the best curriculum centred books, particularly for new teachers. It feels like there are so many books on how to teach maths, english, science etc and I would love to know your recommendations!

Hi Holly! It's hard to say because it really depends on your state and district since different states can follow different standards (CCSS, TEKS, etc.) and different districts can utilize different curriculums or teaching methods. Ooo... great question! I think I'd recommend reading Tiny Habits first because it's SUPER actionable and then you can read Atomic Habits to build an even stronger base with habit knowledge and practice 🎉

Yup! However, most states would still require you to be certified in that state (at least from what I've seen). There are pay increases with NBCT, for example, but it isn't really a priority to me right now.

Instead of the ninja coffee maker for Christmas of 2023 I got the Hamilton beach 7 in 1 coffee maker so it's French press brew a pot single serve hot or single serve cold over ice whatever spikes your fancy cold brew or the whole pot and it's easier then ninja and u don't need buy a whole separate French press pot and I'm a dark roaster myself for my coffee but French press doesn't work with my online school schedule so I brew it conventionally either single serve 🥶 or the whole pot and pour it over ice after and originally it was going up to our family trailer in Newport NH but we decided to keep at the house and put our old pour over at my grandparents cottage in Plymouth MA because we don't have a true one there and we were rickashaing it with the tea kettle for the cooker the farberware 2 spout pot a colander and paper coffee filters and that went down like a dead 🎈 real quick every time I make a pot of coffee 😂 so it's great to have a real coffee pot down there again we had one but it grew feet and walked away 😅 that funny saying whenever you loose stuff in your house your camper but I don't know how you can loose things in a camper it's a small space anyway but us Downings STILL DO LOOSE THINGS IN OUR 5TH WHEEL TRAILER LIKE TOTAL WACKOS 😅 DESPITE IT BEING A SUCH SMALL SPACE ITS A HOME ON WHEELS AND A SMALL SPACE WE ARE THE TOTAL WACKOS OF LOOSE THINGS IN A TRAVEL TRAILER 😜 so let that be your travel hack don't loose things in your home on wheels.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I've found that my French press takes the same amount of time as my single serve so it doesn't really matter which one I choose in terms of the time it takes. I'm happy you have something that works for you though!

I don’t know how it gets any more casual than what this vlog was because I literally just recorded clips as I went 😂 But you’re entitled to your opinion and have a choice in the content you consume so you’re free to no longer watch my videos if you don’t enjoy them! Thankfully there are plenty of people who still do 🥰
