I got the same mold . When I do mine , I leave the bottom hook off and add small willow blade .That bottom hook will get you snagged 90% of the time . Add a little marboo to the hook .

Another great learning video for all. Thanks for letting everyone know the trouble you had it is also passing on knowledge. Not so shiny baits have there place. Sometimes my older well used baits work better than the brand new ones. As always God bless.

Oh yeah… a new lure making adventure! 😎 Love blades! Shine in the cold water but very versatile as well… (up ur alley… if careful about the xtra drag, most will even take a feathered treble well). Lookin forward to seeing u perfect the technique with these like u always do… Dig the black n gold!

Thanks man! Yeah, have some work to do but liked the process overall and definitely want to work out the bugs! The alternate painting approach should make things a bit more interesting as well :)

Nice video Adam. I use a the uv blast coating over the first coating and it makes it glossier also use a makeup brush to make do multiple colors

I poured a few more today in a cold mold and have yet to run into a problem, but I'm probably just getting lucky!! LOL

I thought the work that went into them was spot on. Trust me I know it’s hard to please yourself sometimes. I really like e-Tex epoxy. It has really slow dry times but can be applied very thin. I may be lazy but I never powder coat my stuff. I paint and seal with envirotex. Great video as usual. By the way you can also finish rod wraps with E-Tex and it’s available at Hobby Lobby and Micheal’s if you have them in your area.

I use Drop Out too! Awesome stuff! I get it from my local hunting/fishing supplier, it’s in with the reloading supplies.

Ditto the Drop Out - great stuff. Try CS Lure & Jig dip instead of the epoxy.

Good video, I've found that epoxy of any kind does not do well with sharp edges. I soften the blade edges with a sanding block before paint and epoxy.

Excellent! I’ve been asking you to show us a blade bait poor since you started. Thanks. I have the most problem with this mold. I’ve even tried heating the insert before putting into mold. You made it look easy. Of course I’m pouring with melted wheel weights and not pure lead. Could very well be my problem. As for the epoxy, I think its unnecessary. I lose blade baits faster than any bait, and if your fishing them correctly they take a beating. Lift and fall. What are your thought on using the split shank hooks so you don’t keep snagging the bottom with the lead point on a treble? Thanks again, God bless.

Hey Julius, glad I was able to fulfill a request! I poured 8 more today with no issue, so it’s hard to say what’s up with yours. You’re right about the lead, I only use clean soft stuff so that’s got to help. Someone else mentioned Sally Hansen’s as an option, interesting idea. As for the hooks, I’ve seen those and think that may be a great option. Love the concept given how much they are fished on the bottom. Thanks again man!!

I I have that mold and I’ve never used epoxy with it, never saw the use for it For Blade baits. I do like the glitter with epoxy. That’s fantastic, what kind of glitter did you use? I do hope you get a chance to use them at a lake. I do enjoy fishing those. Excellent video!!!

Thanks man! I went to epoxy, primarily, in hopes of keeping the holographic tape on. Adding flake to it is a bonus! The type of flake varies, this was extra fine from Hobby Lobby, but any extra small (0.008) will do! Thanks for watching!

The lures look good I have used a product called KBS Coatings diamond clear it might be worth a try it worked good for me.

Thx! Yeah, I've looked at that in the aerosol as well, looks promising if you have adequate ventilation (I hear the vapors/smell is STRONG!)

I'm stuck in the same situation. I want just the lead painted and it's not turning out. Tried a powder paint airbrush and a liquid airbrush and not happy with either. But I'm new with the airbrush stuff.

Yeah, I think you’d still have to mask it off, even with a micron you’ll get a little overspray. It’s going to be fun (and frustrating!) to figure out!

The lures still have flash, so they’ll catch fish. We forget that we normally make lures to catch fisherman, not fish. LOL. Would a light spray lacquer preserve the prism effect of the tape? How would you make a fire tiger pattern, The pike and bass in my area grow fat on sunfish. Good tip on the releasing agent: how often do you apply it? Great video! Thanks from Bill in frozen Mn.

Hey Bill, thanks for the comment! You apply the Drop Out as often as needed (you’ll see it wear away with regular use) but even still, not all that often. Like anything… pour a lot, reapply a lot. I’m pretty well stocked on lead heads so it’s months between applications for me. Regarding the bait… an airbrush can/would do wonders - that is the next horizon! Firetiger and other patterns are very doable with that tool. An aerosol spray is a great idea, KBS Diamond Clear has an option that may work nicely. Plenty to learn, but it’s a fun bait to experiment with!! Thx again my friend!
