Reading the powers of Oath of Conquest in the UA made me think a little of Darth Vader.

I really enjoy the idea of internal strife within the order. It makes an automatic hook to introducing the subclass into a campaign as well as just being an interesting draw. Very nice.

It would be really cool to play as an oath of conquest paladin who had intents on asserting dominance over barbarian tribes infamous for raiding and destroying small villages. The paladin could call out the leader of the tribe and just say "No more" as he vanquishes the creature and gains the title of chieftain for himself before leading the tribe into a new peaceful era of harmony with civilization

A devotion Paladin will jump in front of a strike to protect someone, a vengeance Paladin will smash heads with righteous fury, a conquest Paladin will break an enemies willpower and spirit.

In all honesty, I love the Oath of Conquest the most out of all Paladin oaths in 5e. There is so much that can be done with backgrounds with the implied harshness of the oath, the relation to devils, and their view of what is right. The Oath of Conquest, in my opinion, makes for very interesting, multi-dimensional characters, moreso than most other oaths.

Interesting idea. What went into my head when hearing this was a paladin who gets their powers from a deity, but ultimately serves a nation/city/kingdom and spreads their influence, regardless of what they personally believe.

I could imagine a good-aligned oathbreaker, especially if they used to be conquest paladins, but choose to abandon that path.

my paladin who is a fallen angel Banadus was an angle of Bahamut. She was created during that last few years of the last great war between the gods. She followed bahamut for many years after that serving him. OIne day she grew tired of serving him and wished to be free. Asmodeus saw this and offered her freedom in exchange For her to attack Bahamut. She took this deal that atemted to attack Bahamut. She failed and was hunted into exial. After returning to Asmodeus now with the lose of her left arm he gave her an arm of a monster and banished her to the material plane as well as making her a Fallen Angle. Now she romes the world enjoying her freedom and causeing caos in Asmodeus's name.

Conquest paladin + Fear bard = NO ESCAPE FROM THE LIGHT!

I played a oath of conquest paladin as a red dragon born who became an immortal tyrant by scaring the personification of death into submission so while you may kill him temporarily he will raise again and cleave your head from your shoulders

I flavored an Oath of Conquest for one to be set up like Fire Emblem's Alm, he has a conquest against Duma, to free Duma's soul and save lives in the future. My character's conquest is against the bbeg, taking up arms to bring peace to the lands by defeating the evil lich for harvesting and corrupting souls. 3 levels of Paladin and 7 levels of Battle Master. My character hasn't given up on the people he's the people's blade while other strive to be the shield.

But this Paladin is perfect for Bane, Tiamat, Loviatar, and the lords of the nine hells😈💯

I'm currently playing a Paladin that's currently going through a similar crisis of faith in people. He got (slightly) better after a pep talk from the party's atheist Artificer (yes, an atheist in a D&D setting) but there's always the possibility that he forsakes his Oath of Devotion for an Oath of Conquest.

I played a Reborn who had levels in conquest paladin. He makes it his mission to slaughter and conquer every monster he sees until he finds the one that killed him (he's hoping through the slaughter he'll be able to remember what it is) 😅

I'd say this would be like Superman from Injustice.
