In this video, I will show you how to use Google Chat. Google Hangouts will be replaced by Google Chat and Google Meet. Google Chat makes it easy to collaborate in a project or with your team in an efficient way. Share files in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides all in Google Chat. Work from your Gmail and get all the features of Chat. Install the app on your computer or use your mobile device to get a seamless experience. Google Check the time stamps for more information.

I've been watching in conjunction with a Google Apps class. I believe the "Room" is now called a "Space." Much like the old online bulletin boards.

All things well. They couldn't just give a dark mode to the chats. I sometimes have to chat overseas team and it happens at night. All that white is not right, and affects my sight. Yeah, I just rhymed there😀, but you get the point.

the direct calling feature from Hangouts is greatly missed ( like imessages or whatsapp). I wonder why its taken off.

Hey there. Great tutorial. I needed this video because someone I met through Fitbit a long time ago, found me again and contacted me. She used google chat which I was not familiar with, so I could not respond back until I successfully downloaded the app and started typing for the first time. This person is always away, and it takes eons before I get a reply back. My question now is, how do I get someone on Google chat? Do I just tell them I am using google chat for a new way to message, or how do I approach this? I am a very big beginner at this stuff and don’t always use this form of communication because most of my groups I meet with, are in person at my local community center. Thanks again for such a great video. I’m not too sure how voiceover, (the text to speech app for the blind on apple devices) works for some features. Can anyone give some pointers, do’s and don’t’s on using chat? Thanks.

In hanagouts, you used to be able to switch from one chat to another using "Ctrl + Period" (or comma to go the other way) but in the new google chat, that doesn't seem to work. Do you know if there is a new function for this or do we need to use our mouse to switch conversations?

Can you use Google Chat without email addresses? To clarify, I have been communicating with someone through KZfaq comments, which of course goes to our inboxes without the knowledge of each other's email address. This person has asked if I use Google Chat, assuming to continue our conversation through a different, faster platform. However, we only know each other's KZfaq user profile name. Thanks!

So true about the smart reply! It says the app offers a faster and more secure experience with better capability and reliability. I haven't noticed much of a difference yet.

Would you recommend Meet or Chat if I was starting a personal conversation/work group with friends? We'll primarily be video chatting and sharing files. These apps seem similar.

How do you just video call someone with out sending a google meet link? There is no icon to click on. Hangouts had an easier interface.

I couldn't make out the tiny font on my phone but thank goodness half the screen was dedicated to your handsome face even though you only took up a quarter of it. maybe you should allocate some extra space so that people can see what the f you are typing. it is a tutorial, not headshots for an audition!
