YOURE A GENIUS chrome has been impossible for me everyone says to do it differently. buffing, layer of black gel for 90 seconds then top coat is PERFECT!!!

For the matte nail, you are supposed to put a top coat only over the chrome part, cure it, and then wipe it off with an alcohol wipe.

hi, I'd just like to say that i am always unhappy with the way that nail techs do my nails so i finally decided to try and do gel nails at home for the first time and i used this tutorial to do a silver stars on black design and it came out sooo beautifully, I am so happy with it! your tips helped me so much, thank you for making this video!

Now I have to say, I visited a nail shop and requested this design as it's just so beautiful. They turned out nice, not as beautiful as yours, which you'd expect considering the price I paid. But I was really disappointed with the stars, which looked irregular and the chrome didn't look smooth, and now I know why. In all honesty, I just can't with nail shops anymore, hence why I love your channel. Your perfectionism speaks to me, and I'm having fun learning how you do my own nails.

So glad you enjoyed it! I actually used the Wonderlust colour gel from Medusa which hasn't been in stock for a while, but they do have a soft gel polish option here: www.medusanails.com/product/009-wonderlust/ I actually alternate between Wonderlust, Cover Peach: www.medusanails.com/product/cover-peach/ Celestine: www.medusanails.com/product/celestine/ and if you're in the UK, Luxe from 516 Polish is identical to Wonderlust, just less pigmented/more buildable - 516polish.com/products/luxe-gel?_pos=2&_sid=1cc626d92&_ss=r. Please do note that all the gels mentioned (besides the first link) are hard gels. If you'd like me to suggest soft/soak-off gel alternatives, let me know.

Hi!! Thank you so much for making this video. Are you buffing the tacky layer off normal gel color, with no top coat on?

If the gel I’m using cures with a tacky layer, I use alcohol or acetone to remove it and then I go in and buff. Alternatively, if there’s potential to lose or compromise that colour by cleansing it or buffing it, I will do a layer of no-wipe topcoat, cure and then buff. Hope that helps x

Did u already mix the non wipe clear with the black color? Without the non wipe, the chrome won’t be shinny.

Does gel that cures tacky still do the glitter thing if you wipe off the sticky layer? Or would it just not stick at all?

It might not stick at all, and it can appear almost faded even it does, but this depends on the brand and formula you’re using.

I used the candy coat liner in black, but the beetles liner gel (in black) also works when cured for 90 seconds

I think it’s the actual top coat I’m not entirely sure, I was thinking this because how has the gel colour cured with ought a tacky layer unless she wiped it off ?

How do you keep your base polish even when you’re buffing?

I'm assuming you mean how do I not buff away the colour? If so, I always gently use a lower grit buffer such as a 180 grit or the less course side if you have a double-sided buffer. This just polishes/makes the surface matte vs refining/take away layers. Hope that helps

Wait does that mean for the striped nail with left and right comparison, for the right side you went over the black coloured lines with no wipe gel topcoat ?

On the left side I used a regular "overlay gel polish" that cures with a sticky layer (aka inhibition layer) and on the right I used an "art gel" which cures with a no-wipe surface (the formula may have a no-wipe topcoat built into it). Hope that makes sense

I have seen people create beautiful chrome designs with that method, it's just never worked for me personally. Especially when trying to achieve precise & intricate chrome details
