Watched your video and followed your recommendation. Went with the chair plus baby set (no tray or cushion) so Baby could eat at the table with us. The first day we put Baby in the Tripp Trapp and Baby gave us the biggest smile!! Baby was so happy to sit at the table with us at eye level. That alone was worth every single penny!

We have one, got it when our LO was 3 months because the newborn seat meant she could watch us in the kitchen. We didn't get it with the tray so she could eat at the table with us. Although the chair is pricey it is extremely useful as it grows with them. Only negative is how heavy it is, you can't move around the house easily but we love it.

When my children were born almost 30 years ago I wished I had this high chair. I had another chair which was gifted by the grandparents so I had to use that. I'm happy that it still exists and is recommended. The chair itself hasn't changed. It only has a few more extras. In my country (germany) it is well known for so many years and I wonder if it is the same in other countries.

Hi @Maria Daniels I agree it is very expensive. I have found cheaper highchairs similar to the Tripp Trapp (slat seats that have multiple adjustments) but I do find the tripp Trapp baby seat insert the best one in regards to support and comfort for the babies when sitting in the highchair.

A more affordable duplicate of this is the Kinderkraft Livy with Calmee attachment. It’s got all the same stuff, looks more modern and it’s cheaper. Even cheaper if you get it without the Calmee attachment. But it’s worth it if you have a smaller baby, I personally chose it because it can become a bouncer

We got the Tripp trap when our baby was around 3 months and got the newborn and high chair set second hand from a friend. The newborn insert was great, he loved sitting in it and watching us cook dinner, and joining us at the table while we ate. Changed to the high chair add on when he started solids and we miss the newborn insert for him to watch us in the kitchen (it’s too tiring for him to be in the high chair for that long). His legs did hang out of the newborn set but he seemed happy and comfortable. Look for a second hand newborn set, there are plenty around!

Love this video and we love our Stokke Tripp Trapp! However, we need to go to stay at a friend's house for the weekend in a couple of weeks and we need a portable high chair as they have no high chair there. It would ideally be good to have one that could be used both attached or not attached to a normal adult dining chair, but we could make it work if it only had one of those functions. It will be for our 15 month old, but ideally if we bought something that could be used for a wide age range that would be great so that we can use in the future as our son gets older and also if we have another child. Thanks for any recommendations! I am from the UK by the way :)

If you’re feeding a toddler at a table, what do you put their food on so that they don’t dump it all and make a huge mess? I’m fine with messy eating to a point, but it just seems like it would be so chaotic. My 1 year old eats in a high chair with the food directly on the tray, which has been working, but he’s clearly uncomfortable sitting in it for too long. I definitely don’t want to put the food directly on the table. Do you have suggestions? I’ve found so many recommendations for the Tripp Trapp, but nobody seems to show their kids actually eating in it at the table, especially really little ones.

Hi Emma, what do you think about the other Stokke high chairs - is the Tripp Trapp the only one you recommend? What are your thoughts on the Stokke Clikk high chair and the Stokke Steps high char? Thanks in advance! Love your channel - thank you so much for your insightful videos.
@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard Жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy, from a quick look on google I would say the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair is the best option. Both the Clikk High Chair and the Steps High Chair has a fixed seat depth. Where as the Tripp Trapp has the ability to change the seat depth which means it can accommodate a 6 month old baby well. The Clikk High Chair also has only 2 different heights for the footrest support. It's important to have a high chair which has lots of adjustability re: the footrest height. That is why I would say the Tripp Trapp is the better chair because it is more adjustable in seat depth, seat height and foot rest height. Hope that helps!

Hi Emma, one thing I have not heard in this video was when it is appropriate to put a baby into a high chair. The video talks about 6 mos. In you expertise, does the baby need to sit up on his own? I have heard about many parents who just strap the baby into the high chair even though the baby does not yet sit up on his own. Some doctors say high chairs should only be used when the baby is able to sit up on his own. (I have a boy so I use "his"). Can you please comment on this?

Hello Emma, I have just bought the Tripp Trapp chair based on your recommendation. The manual says the baby set should be only used once the child can sit on his own. My soon-to-be-six-month-old baby cannot sit unaided just yet. I had the impression this chair is a great choice for little ones who cannot sit on their own yet but now I am confused (maybe I have heard it in the shop where I purchased it). Hey Emma thanks for this! We have this chair and I am a bit unsure how to adjust it for my six month old. Her feet hit the footrest at a 90deg. Angle but somehow she wiggles her body/tries to stand a lot when she's in the seat. Kind of moving her pelvis forward while trying to stand. Could this be an issue with position?!
@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard 2 жыл бұрын
Hi @habima2000 it is hard to say exactly why your little one is trying to stand up when she is in this seat. Without seeing your little one, I would guess the seat depth might need adjusting. So you need to check if when she is sitting on this chair her knees are at 90 degrees and also make sure the edge of the seat is not cutting into the back of her knees. If the seat is cutting into the back of her legs you need to adjust the depth to make it shorter. I would also check to make sure the seat height is correct. If the seat height is incorrect it could be encouraging your little one to stand up to see the food. So when your little one is sitting at the table or has the tray attached do her arms rest comfortable at her side so that when they rest on the tray/table her elbows are at 90 degrees? If her arms do not rest at her side then you need to lower the seat height. Hope that helps!

I think it needs to be mentioned in reviews that the buckles & straps of this baby harness are not up to the quality of the rest of the chair. For the high pricetag, they are fiddly, extreemly difficult to adjust as your baby grows and have no compression style buckles to allow for snugging it up as you would see in baby carriers, pram seats and most any other harness. In fact, you can't adjust these with your little one wriggling in the chair at all so getting it right initially is a painful trail and error of in/out adjustments.

What is the difference of the Tripp trapp vs the stokke step for baby?
@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard 3 жыл бұрын
From the looks of it stokke steps chair with the baby set has less adjustability of the seat length (just two). The footrest slots are further apart than then Tripp Trapp so less adjustability there. The weight limit is slightly less 84kg compared to $110kg. Also once you remove the baby set on the Stokke Chair there is no adjustment in seat depth (from the photos you will need to put a cushion behind a toddler and child’s back for a few years before their thighs will be long enough that they can rest their back in the backrest). I do like that you don’t need any tools to adjust this chair though.

@EmmaHubbard
@EmmaHubbard 3 жыл бұрын
Hi @thatssochic1 I haven't seen a teenager use a high chair either! 😂 In the video I say that a teenager will use some form of adaptive seating (sorry for the confusion as I wasn't referring to a high chair). Standard dining tables are simply too tall for most teenagers, When you see a teenager sitting in a dining chair you will see the child perch on the seat or wrap their legs around the seat legs or kneel on the seat or move around constantly. This is because when they sit on the dining chair with their bottom at the back of the chair their feet do not touch the ground, the dining table is too high (arms are not resting with elbows at 90 degrees which makes it difficult to use cutlery or complete written homework) and the back of the chair is cutting into the back of their knees which causes pins and needles. If the child does not have a tripp trapp then I usually I need to provide a footrest (box) and potentially high density foam on the seat. After these changes are made the teenagers can sit at the table without moving and they find it easier to use their hands to hold cutlery and write. Hope that makes it a bit clearer!

@@EmmaHubbard I know exactly what you mean and so glad that there are people who know teenagers need adjustment as well.
