Super in-depth tutorial that includes the why of the settings. Most videos give you a one size fits all solution that doesn't allow the viewer to understand. Love the depth and thought you put into explaining the concepts/functionality of the stabilization feature in resolve.

Sempre misturo combustível somente no momento do uso (evitando mistura velha) Resumindo, máquina Top! Ótimo custo benefício e as mesmas peças da Husqvarna 143R-II.

Gyro is the best thing they announced. pulls rolling shutter and no jello (of course with BM cams). also very important you cannot use any gimbles with "gyro" and if you are using a zoom lens, you MUST enter the lens data first, and every time you change the zoom. also I believe you have to shoot BRAW. Prorez will not copy the data. Rolling shutter on the BMPCC6k pro was my biggest gripe and when I saw the gyro stab remove the rolling shutter I fell out of my chair. never heard anyone even mention it. great vid by the way

@stevegreen9474 Жыл бұрын
Gimbals should be fine shouldn't they? It's just making the camera more stable in the first place It's any optical image stabilisation in the lens that confuses the gyro, if you have that turned on, it won't work Definitely has to be BRAW

I wish Resolve could read GoPro gyro data like ReelSteady. That is a great tip about one object motion for perspective versus two objects in motion. Also camera lock for fixed position. Those are the two best tips I think for me since I'm a novice.

Great tutorial! I wonder if there’s any influence about when to apply stabilization in editing workflow. My case: I stabilize each clip after finishing my edit page, but before moving to the color page. And somehow the stabilization is reseted. Should it be the last thing on my workflow before export?

Very good help!! I do better when using your method. What I find difficult is with sensors that have IBIS and lens stabilization that the main subject is pretty still but part of the backgrounds moves. An example is talking heads handheld it's so difficult to get good. Of course it would be ideal to put the camera on sticks but it's just not possible for me to do that on certain jobs. GH5 was good at it, Canon R and R5 I have difficulties with. I tried without IBIS and lens stabilization on R5 lots of jitter and doing the stabilization in Resolve then it looks pretty much the same as in cam... Maybe its I, the camera man doing funny movements...🙃🧐
@frankinblackpool
@frankinblackpool Жыл бұрын
I never thought about tinkering with the parameters before. I just went through the motions of trying perspective, translation or stabilise and if they made the shot look funny then I’d stop using the setting. I will now experiment with the extra smooth and strength to see if that helps. One funny thing I have noticed is that sometimes, and I can’t explain why, I get better results in the EDIT page with Locked Off shots before resorting to a tutorial to get the same Locked Off effect in the Fusion Page. May I ask you a completely unrelated question, have you ever played with an anamorphic lens? If so, how did you go about desqueezing it? I have a Siri 50mm lens which is sitting in a box unloved because I can’t quite get the maths right. The only method I’ve discovered is to film a test-sheet of paper with circles on it and then eyeball the horizontal stretch till I get rounded shapes on my screen. I’m hoping there is a better way to use maths and punch some numbers in.
@FilmResolved
@FilmResolved Жыл бұрын
For me the best way to handle anamorphic footage is to calcualte the intended aspect ratio i.e. the anamorpic squeeze times the sensor ratio. Then set the timeline resolution in Resolve directly to that aspect ratio with image scaling set to "stretch frame to all corners". This way is more effort up front to calcuate the figures but it also ensures the correct desqueeze.

Very cool tut. But it is different if I do the stab from edit than color? Because they are the same GPU motor acting. there is another way to stabilization on Color tab Classic stabilization with cloud tracker and is is really good for car shots and walking scene.

Why is your CST so early on in your node tree? Shouldn't you have it near the end so that you're making all your adjustments on your source material w/ the most bit depth before compressing?
@FilmResolved
@FilmResolved Жыл бұрын
That’s an node with CineMatch not CST. I’m using it to enter into arri color space and grading in that color space so no compression happening yet, just a different large space. Then towards the end of the tree in using the arri rec.709 LUT for my 709 conform. But yes if using CST to conform to a smaller space you should be using that later in the tree 👍

Do you ever do drone footage? I have one that pans and turns a bit rough in spots. I was wondering if you could also manually smooth the stabilizer. I see the tracks in the window. I have edited simple ones in the display window. I might have to take it into fusion.
@FilmResolved
@FilmResolved Жыл бұрын
I do but thankfully my drone has not presented me with the issue you have described. I am not currently aware of manually adjusting the stabliization, certainly not with in the color page which is where my experience of the tool is. People with experience stabilising in other pages may have more info for you. From what you're describing a manualy keyframing the adjustment of the x position within the inspector may be an approach worth exploring.

DaVinci is so inconsistent with the stupid Pages. You can stabilize on the Edit page the color page and Fusion and they all are different. Same with Voice isolation on the edit page and fairlight. the edit page gets no love
@raulgalets
@raulgalets Ай бұрын
you know, I used to think like that too. now I understand that Resolve is a workflow oriented software. The color page favours the color correction workflow. so if you need to say, track something in the color page, it should favour the color.correction workflow. so it should work different. interact differently with the tools avaliable. same thing with say stabylizing a shot. on the fusion page we get a more robust tool that the effects guy can spend some time on, and in the inspector on the edit page we get a more simple tool the editor can use quickly if it does the trick. but both use those inside their workflow, matching their workflow quirks.

Agreed. I was forcing a 500T film emulation on this setup and though the skin tone sit on the skin tone indicator of the vectorscope, there’s a lot more going on than just lining up those hues and as a result it doesn’t look great. For me it’s actually how the tones are washes out that I don’t like. I’ve since tweaked this PTC look and it looks far more natural IMO. It’s still based on 500T but much less heavy handed with how much emulation is being used. I’ve always used my channel and the grades I do on it as a testing ground for pushing looks. What can I get away with and what can’t I get away with? I take those learnings and keep them in mind for my professional work (and future KZfaq ventures) so I can become better and judging where the line is. This is a perfect example of where I’ve got it wrong and it’s been called out and now I know for sure it’s not just me who wasn’t please with the look but it’s also not sitting right with the audience. Super valuable feedback, thank you!
