You can get the Master Sword really early in Tears of the Kingdom!
In Tears of the Kingdom, a way exists to duplicate weapons. As long as the coordinates in a zone match, you can move weapons between two saves… and as it so happens, the intro sequence underneath Hyrule Castle matches with a very early shrine, the In-Isa, otherwise known as the fuse shrine.
For this to work, you must have acquired atleast Ultra Hand and played up to the In-isa shrine. You can do this at any point in the playthrough otherwise.
If you can, you might want to make a cloud backup too. You’ll see why.
First, get yourself to the In-isa shrine. Make sure it autosaves when you enter, as we’ll be using this to return to this save. Next, start a new game. Yes, really. Play the intro sequence until you reach the staircase to dehydrated ganondorf. Make a manual save here, then return to the in-isa autosave. In the In-isa autosave, take one of these rocks and place it to the wall like so. Stand on it facing the wall. Open your inventory and drop a weapon, any weapon will do, and equip a second one.
Press + twice to close and open the inventory quick enough for the item to not have spawned on the screen yet. Now drop the second weapon, and load your manual save.
In the manual save, you should now see the weapon you first dropped. Grabbing a weapon allows access to the weapons inventory, so now you can drop the master sword. Repeat the same process, dropping the master sword first, press + twice, drop the second weapon, and return to In-isa. Bring yourself back to the place you set up the rock, and on the ground you will find the MsgNotFound Master Sword. This variant has infinite durability, making it an insanely good weapon to have.

Really helpful tip, stack two rocks, it seemed to work often more that way

Pinning this - the reason it works more often this way is because we're abusing the fact that below castle (intro version) and in-isa have the same internal coordinates at that spot. By stacking the two rocks, it'll be dropped into the intro scene from higher - often times you can miss it due to your drop being slightly off or low. This can help mitigate that.

You can also fuse things to it and duplicate it using other glitches too. I have three elemental master swords that have came from the msgnotfound sword.

Tip: if doing this with main save file DO NOT MANUAL SAVE IN THE NEW FILE! Manual save in the In isa shrine and autosave in the new file. Still works and there is minimal risk of save file deletion

I wish they wouldn't be so annoying about downgrading versions, like just let us do it, in theory nobody should be getting bothered. It's a single player game :( Admittedly the amount of "just dupe bro" comments on other videos make me understand the practice a bit better since it's probably not a prevalent view they want on their game but still highly annoying

It's never safe to purposely let some glitch in the game, if something is not planned it can always have some unpredictable effect on the product, so it's safer for them and the players (and the right thing to do in the vision of giving out a functioning product) to just try to fix every error they can. Remember, even if it's useful, a glitch it's still an error.

I turned off auto update so I can still do it, but i have one question, does starting a new game not overwrite the other save? How is this possible then?

It overwrites the manual save, but the autosaves remain. The intro does 2, 3, maybe 4 Autos depending on how quickly you move through it but the game keeps up to 5. Because you can move between manual and auto, this becomes possible :)

It depends per soeedrunning community but often times it's a group project. One person will find something, another person will find something else, then those things get combined! This one in particular is the combination of UI desync -> load save duplication and the discovery that the intro sequence and in-isa shrine are in the same map coordinates!

Pretty sure it stays, you just cant get any more of them. But why would you update it in the first place? Im keeping mine as it is so i can dupe stuff and upgrade my armor easier

It *should* stay, however if you can, turn off the automatic update in the settings while you can. I'm not sure if you can still get it canceled, but it's worth a shot!

@@tbull1663if it does update, and you have a physical copy, you CAN delete all the totk files from your switch, turn off auto updates, and run a fresh save, and it should revert back to the original version of the game, but it means deleting all your saved progress

Good news! If you are still on 1.1.2, there is a new very simple glitch to fuse things to the Msgnotfound sword. It's easier than zuggling.

You can hold several as they're just regular weapons. Also unlike the normal master sword, the msgnotfound has infinite durability and can be dropped

The intro cutscene master sword (msgnotfound) is actually a separate item which doesn't have the same flag that makes the master sword undroppable ^^ it's a bunch of weird factors together tbh

One person will accidentally make a thing happen, then logic starts getting applied to it. The reason this works is that the intro sequence and in-isa shrine overlap in coordinates, so when you load into the other save, the first delayed drop processes in those same coordinates causing you to kidnap items across the save files. It's incredibly lucky that in-isa, a super early shrine, has these coordinates by the way!

But for the real MS u need full two wheels of stamina and have to be able to get to the light dragon. Only the great deku tree tells you the location of it and the lost wood are not very easy to get into. Not invalidating your feelings, but IMO Msgnotfound was a super easy glitch that took no more than 10 minutes

The auto save happens if you watch the cutscenes with Zelda. Over lapping you previously 5 only save file. I got the sword but had to start allllllllll over

I wish they’d leave these kinds of glitches in. Only a certain type of player is going to even WANT to do this, and it’s not exactly a soft lock level glitch. Yeah, it destroys the whole weapon durability thing, and while I personally love weapons breaking, that’s the game’s most unpopular feature. Why do you do this Nintendo?

I got it a different way… legit though Instead of doing hearts, I used 20 light orbs to get a full second Stan bar Then I found the dragon near a high island and built a basic flying machine, well it worked and I now have the master sword

Likely someone who understood certain parts of the game, like the code, and did stuff like overloading the game. I assume it wasn't by accident, but someone who looked through the code and whatnot, then realized certain areas have more likeliness to whatever they gotta do. Just a guess though 🤷
