In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

I mean he was a right ol' prick about it but she wasn't much better, there was no real reason to stop Ian from looking for and gathering heavy things in the mean time. She could have discussed a plan with Paul and then filled Ian in on their thoughts while he's just bringing heavy stuff over. I'm all for making a plan but you don't need too many cooks in the kitchen to do that anyways. I've worked building concerts, stages, and just general construction, when I'm a lead on a project I have my hands/workers gather the materials I know I'll need while I go over the plans and figure out where I need people as we start building. That's the beauty of teamwork, everyone can contribute in their own way.

@@geckohunter123 would he not be near by after he's gathered things? He would literally have to bring objects back to them, he could listen at that point. It's not like he ran off and never came back. She didn't need him standing next to her in order to think of a plan, that's just time being wasted. If she was hoping he was going to brainstorm with her it wasn't necessary because he did already contribute to the plan which was to bring heavy objects over. Once again going back to my previous example, I don't have my workers stand around me the whole time while I come up with a game plan, I have them do what I know needs to be done, like bringing over material, then once that's done and I had a second to think I fill them in on it. It's really not a revolutionary concept and I don't know why you think it would be a worse way to do things when it's more time efficient.

@@donovanfaust3227the issue is point blank he wasn’t listening at all once the timer started. why would Lou assume if she brainstormed a plan by herself that he would stop and execute it? he had just yelled and ignored her for the tub AND the weight question. there’s no leader in this task, so your example doesn’t really apply here, this is more like a class group project where one of your classmates goes rogue.

This was one of the rare times I utterly disagreed with Ed. I *loathed* Iain up until this point *so much* - and that feeling got progressively worse with each episode - that I was on the verge of not watching the rest of the series (the *only* time that’s happened for me with TM). It wasn’t until Iain saw how awful he came across in the studio and was horrified with himself that I as a viewer finally felt some humanity and humility coming from him, and I was able to finish watching the series. [I even somewhat warmed up a little to him by the end when he possibly threw a final in-studio task so that Paul Sinha would win an episode.] Of course, later Iain spoiled it by saying on the podcast he wasn’t actually disgusted with his behavior in series 8, but for my purposes of sufficiently tolerating series 8 to make it to the end, I choose to view that revelation as rank revisionism after-the-fact. ;-)

@@47Jaspers I would say they were a victim of their own successful argument here. If sitting on top of the hammock which was lying on the ground counts as "in" the hammock, then leaving the top of it would count as "out" and "fall" would be an appropriate definition for a transition between "in" and "out" considering there was a height difference between the top of the hammock and the ground (no matter how small). Electively or not does not affect the fact that it's a transition between in and out that loses height. Admittedly that's an extremely finely detailed definition, but as I said at the start, so was their argument for the definition of "in"

The one with the tree bagging/netting machine comes to mind. It seems to me that it would be better to weigh the contestants at the time of the task (not air that bit) and then give a total weight of everything. That would give Alex proper amounts and anyone sensitive about their weight wouldn't have to announce it.

@@iliketrains3495 I loved Lou, but there are four that I disliked, mainly because they didn't seem to enjoy being on the show, and argued a lot and were generally surly or angry, or apathetic. Liza Tarbuck Iain Stirling Jo Brand Jamali Maddix Although both Liza and Jamali had some really good high points as well.

@@mytube001 ahh thank you, everyone loves Liza but she might also be one of my least favorites. Lou is the least, for me Iain is okay he saw his mistakes and admited them, I can see why you say that about Jamali and agree that's how Jo acted but I thinks she owned it quite well and didn't mind almost at all.

I do think people went WAY overboard with their reaction to this and I doubt it was the producers intention. Yeah Iain got a bit narky but it’s over a silly task involving a hammock and barrel that he wanted to win and I can imagine Lou, hilarious as she is, can be a tad frustrating to work with in a scenario like this.

Ian RIGHTFULLY should be ashamed of his agressive, controlling behavior. As he said, it was a true insight, and not a positive one.

I honestly found Lou so much more annoying in this clip, they were two people trying to take charge of the situation, so of course they would clash. But her only contribution was saying "Stop"

Let's face it. Iain is a complete, arrogant prick with insane control issues. Was disturbing to watch😢. Very disturbing man. Heard he'd been to Nz!@ not sure he'll be let in again to be fair...keep me posted if he is... I'll stop it happening 😂

I think the team of 2 should also have been disqualified.. At the beginning the bathtub was on/in the hammock after which they placed it back on the floor.. 0 points for everyone!

Random thought but I wonder if there could be a special episode where all 5 contestants are K-Pop idols. They go through so much and have a lot of variety shows to their name which means they are used to this kind of thing... right? I mean give them a task from the series and let them loose; what could possibly go wrong?
