A check of Tripadvisor reviews (263) indicates 31.5% of passengers rated their flight as "Terrible". This is approximately 3X the majors receive a similar review. The most remarkable claim is that of a "quieter cabin". Decibel levels at the back of these airplanes peg at 85. Convenient ground transportation? That's a stretch since G.A. facilities are typically a substantial distance away from the main terminals. Cudos for KVDC pointing out the light passenger loads make for quicker boarding. I flew during the peak of COVID when there were less than 15 passengers on the same class aircraft. Boarding was a breeze. The biggest problem JSX faces is that their end run around TSA and other rules that allows this carrier to claim Part 135 status is going to have a short half life. It's really simple: JSX has scheduled flights. This makes them a Part 121 carrier. When the FAA clamps down on their gambit. they'll be just another regional.

It's not semi-private, it's just a smaller plane operating out of a different part of the airport. JSX does expedite your check-in and security check because of the lower number of passengers, so it is not really expedited. You can get through the regular check points if there were 99% less passengers. So, it's not as if you get a pass on this process. It is the same. The seats are like Jetblue style seats and the leg room is like if you paid for extra leg room seats in a larger aircraft. The lounges and terminals are not would consider high end at all. They fly VERY short flights in hubs mainly in the Midwest. Once you're on the plane, it's time to land. This concept is like being half-pregnant and trying to create a new category of flying experience that is so niche that one wonders how they are still in business. Either you go all-in with luxury or don't. Claiming to be semi-private and having nothing that would be close to a private jet experience is a bit of a let down.

As a pilot I was stunned to see the requirements to slide into the right seat of a JSX Embraer 135 or 145. I shouldn't have been. When you slip through the net as a 121 operator requirements are trimmed: 600 total flight hours (for United Aviate participants only)* 800 hours minimum flight hour requirement (without United Aviate) 50 hours multi-engine and 75 hours instrument actual/simulated Fifty hours multi, no turbine requirement, and 75 on the gauges, which can be in a sim. Enough said. These airplanes are virtually idiot proof but this is not the kind of experience that inspires confidence.

@@andredarin8966 Wow, talk about short cuts in pilot requirements...If JSX start emphasizing DEI, then it's going to be big problem.
Just try to use a cool gadget 😍
