Thank you for this video. I'm giving it a try! It was also a great refresher of the GTD method since it's been awhile since I read the book. The only thing that bugs me is that the google task duration cannot be edited. Everything just shows as 30 mins, even though my tasks are longer! Anyway, maybe I'll just block out the extra chunk manually to show a proper duration. Awesome job!

Super easy. Thank you for showing us how to do this! For work, we use Todoist, but I'll be using Google Calendar for my own GTD. Thank you for showing me how to use this program effectively. The more I use Google products, the more I like them.

20:35 you can actually do subtasks that can be checked, under write blog post instead of writing them on the description with a hyphen

Yes you can! I have been using sub tasks alot more lately. I use it for tasks that require multiple steps that don't necessarily need to or can happen on the same date. The description box is great for links too.

Braindumps or idea tanks are so important for conserving your brains energy because you don't have to hold the information and can therefore use your working memory on executing tasks .

This system is great as a small solopreneur to manage your personal tasks. It's not really suitable for a workflow and business management system though. For my own practice I tried all types like Asana, Trello, clickup, and have finally landed on SmartSuite. I will be making some tutorials in SS in 2024 showing behind the scenes how I use it, how you can use it with a team and how to use it to link tasks to your overall strategy. So do look out for that 😁

Unrelated but- I need suggestions on an EHR system for a wider spectrum practice- classes, workshops, one on one sessions, charting etc. If you have a recommendation, I am open to this. We currently use 2 different schedulers because one of them doesn't encompass all of the features we need.
@PrivatePracticeGrowthClub
@PrivatePracticeGrowthClub Жыл бұрын
Hi. Great question. Not sure I fully understand what you are looking for, but it sounds like you need a scheduler that can schedule various types of group and 1:1 sessions, but you also want to incorporate notes and client details in the same system? You mention using 2 schedulers to get all the features you need, could you perhaps share which 2 schedulers you use, and what features specifically are you looking then I might be able to make a more appropriate recommendation 🙂

@PrivatePracticeGrowthClub
@PrivatePracticeGrowthClub 3 ай бұрын
Great question. I actually no longer use clickup. I now use smartsuite. It's not a tool for everyone, but I do plan to make some videos on how I use it in my own practice with some free template setups you can use as well. For now I'd say keep it simple. Focus on getting your systems to work well then think about tools to help level up afterwards

How do you incorporate the gtd concept of contexts? There's no way in Google tasks to tag a task with the place, person, or tool you need for the task, such as @home, @office, @phone, @errands, etc
@PrivatePracticeGrowthClub
@PrivatePracticeGrowthClub Жыл бұрын
Hi there. Great question. There is no organised way to do this unfortunately. As I mentioned in the video, this is an adaptation of the GTD method by simply applying the principles of sorting tasks. I personally do not find contexts helpful for making me for efficient so I don't have a need for them. If you like this method of using Google Tasks and Calendar and want to incorporate contexts, there are 2 ways you could do this: 1) add the context in brackets next to the task title in n the description box, or 2)creat a task for each context in each list and then use sub-tasks to list your actual tasks under each context. Do you think this might work for you?
@mehardin

@@PrivatePracticeGrowthClub perhaps. I'm switching from a paid todoist account which had this functionally to free Google tasks which doesn't. It seems tasks is Google's only app that doesn't have search capability.
