I love doing this sort of thing with my characters.... Except the 'what do you think about me', since many of my characters are evil/sadistic/murderers and I'm not sure I actually want to know what they think about me, lol.

Thank you so much for making this! For a long while I felt so distanced from the characters of my story, and your questions inspired me to interview them to get to know them better. And it's really fun too, so thanks again! :D

Interviewing my characters is always hard. Something that works better for me is to become my character and think through choices they would make. I hope that helps everyone who interviewing might not. Great video!!

I want to base my characters on real people, so it seems like interviewing them would be a good thing too: Figure out your plot. Choose people in your life that you want to base your main characters upon. Then draw up some interview questions related to the plot and invite them out to coffee. What do you think?

I don't have to do an interview ... my characters get interviewed all the time and believe me the questions are not softballs.

Never works with me and my characters. I feel utterly stupid trying to ask an imaginary character something and invent the answers myself.

maybe instead you could make a alternate you and just write out the interview rather than literally speak it out loud. I'm constantly eavesdropping and spying on the mundane lives of my characters, so there is an idea too: just observe them for a long time. Whatever works for you.

Yeah, it can be so hard. Sometimes I don't interview them, I just kind of imagine them in the room with me, like on the couch across from me while I write. Or wait to interview them until I finish the first draft and actually know them better. But whatever works for you!
