I love your channel because I get to see Cambodia without having to live there. I still dream of coming there to live from time to time but the first two reasons you talked about will keep me away for sure. I hate lots of noise and constant heat and humidity. Best of luck to you

Nothing weird here. The only noise that pees everyone off is construction related. It can't be stopped really, like weddings and funerals, everybody gets their turn. The construction noise is, by local etiquette, normally restricted to 7am till 5pm, no noise during lunch or on Sunday. You can complain if this social contract is violated. The noise stops. Of course emergency maintenance is understood. Deciding to live near a school, wat, mosque or a mega construction is on you really. It's really, really quiet at night. Folk get up early when it's cool. The order of service in restaurants is fine. The kitchen is slow because your food is prepared fresh. Share your chips with others while they are waiting (or go full seagull if you're waiting). Barking dogs are good. They aren't stray dogs. They have owners. The dogs sleep at their front doors, patrol their territory and socialise with neighbouring dogs. They only bark at strangers. It's good. The tuk tuk pharmacist scam must be a Siem Reap thing. Enjoy your pizza mate!

For the Cambodians, the loud noise is as of expected for the funeral or wedding. It would be considered rude if complain. Because, we understand it bounces to happen to each of our families.

It amazes me westerners never understand why food comes out in stages. There eating is based on Chinese custom to share all dishes that's ordered. It's complicated when you buying western menu. But that custom of sharing is still the norm.

Regarding KTV, yes it is a business, it sucks that the individual has to live near one. Move to a quieter place. Khmer people around my area knows that there is a noise curfew and it starts at 10pm.

Had to compare the Whopper meal price to the Philippines. > $4.60 'there' - & - $6.80 in Siem Reap. --?-- FYI - Big Mac fry & coke is only $4.00 in the Philippines !!! --- $8.47 in Kentucky (w/tax) where I am near Lexington. --- $13.99 in Phoenix Az. > Just FYI - Dave. -- -- Moving to the Philippines this fall (Oct.) -- where -- I can flush toilet paper - enjoy McDonalds (cheaper food) - and - not sweat to death @ 2000 ft. above sea level ! = 66 - 88 F avg. temps. ((🤗)) Siem Reap was my 2nd choice - TO - Tagaytay Philippines !!! --- All the best Dave - may visit one day ! - - - I can make $1000/mo do nicely there - from my $1500 SS.

I don't know why u mention mosques so much, there are only about 2 % Muslims in Cambodia and 97% Buddhist Sound pollution can be solved with cheap silicone earplugs, i often go with one earplug in against the street sounds but after 15 years in se-asia in good of filter out all the noise. And food is often ordered to be SHARED i most se-asian country's when u go and eat most se-asians think we in the west are weird that order one dish and eat from it =)

The Muslim minority is small but not absent. Mosques do what mosques do and they are always located in Cham enclaves. Some mosques are subject to noise limits if they're in mixed neighbourhoods or near hospitals. You don't have to live near a mosque if it bothers you. You can actually get used to it. If you live near a mosque where the prayer caller has a good voice it's ok. The Buddhist temple sounds are seasonal, not daily. Schools are schools. It's all good. Don't live near a fire station.

It was very loud in Malaysia. You prayed to your favourite imaginary friend that the yodeler had a nice voice. In Cambodia the Muslim folk keep the volume down. Living next door to a mosque... you're probably a Muslim and it's a great location. There's lots of clean, quiet urban villages in Cambodia. There are lots of clean, quiet rural villages too. You choose.
