Last month I got hands on with one of the coolest VR headsets ever made, the Bigscreen Beyond. This is the smallest VR headset ever made but is it really worth the price tag. Check out my other videos for VR Tips & Tricks, Top 10's & News.
If your video was featured & you haven't been credited feel free to contact me via Twitter DM.
I do not own any of music, extra video clips images, chroma key, or sound effects used in this video. Or at least most of them, some stuff is mine.
My channel is about VR Content (obviously lol) I've covered many topics on this channel in the past such as PC Building, PC Gaming Knowledge, Gaming News. That can be CPM rates, Industry knowledge, Business knowledge, how to edit, how to build a gaming PC, budget or not. But VR is cooler so I'm probably gonna keep doing that.
I'm like the monkey you send into space for tests. I just come back with the results and give them to you for FREE.

The reason other PCVR headsets have been so large is because they use lenses which are quite thick and/or need to have space between them and the panels. Headsets like the Beyond and the MeganeX use uOLED panels paired with pancake lenses, which allow them to be as thin as they are. Unfortunately, those pancake lenses also remove most of the light generated by those panels. The tiny FOV and, at least initial, disregard for great off-ear audio like we have with the Valve Index and HP Reverb G2 are very disappointing and leave me just hoping Valve doesn't let us down by waiting until next year to release a worthy successor.

The prescription lenses are game changer for me and make this headset worth considering for PCVR. I hope other companies with pancake lenses design get inspired by this. Paying 100EUR for lenses is non-issue if they can provide spherical and cylindrical correction - which they can. Cylindrical correction cannot be implemented in headset any other way as far as I know.

I've been hoping someone would make a small VR headset because normally VR headsets are so heavy it hurts my head and my neck gets sore from whipping my head around looking at things. I was wishing someone would make a headset like the size of aviator goggles or something lol. So this is really cool! :)

While this is really cool... The need for a pc makes this not so great. Ill keep to my quest 2 until someone make a phone sized quest 2.
@Revamp-
@Revamp- Жыл бұрын
@@dndbasement2370 It's not at all trying to be a quest 2 replacement, not even close ! The target audience knows exactly who they are and why they want to buy it and won't hesitate. However it is true that accesible vr is as important or even more so then high end vr, so as much as i like this headset and the entire philosophy behind it, i do want to see more powerful, extremely lightweight quest 2 replacements.
@dndbasement2370
@dndbasement2370 Жыл бұрын
@@Revamp- i know its not trying to replace the quest 2... what im saying is that even as a PCVR headset, it is still very much not a good buy. for in the end, yes its smaller and lightweight but it still has all the problems of a PCVR setup gets... that is stuck to a computer that cannot be moved or not really portable. so why making a lightweight headset if the goal is to just make a lightweight headset ? the goal of a lightweight headset shouldn't be just to make one, it should be to advance the technology and tell people like the quest 2 people that such a headset can be done even for portable headsets. i mean, the quest 2 is a phone literally... the only reason it is that big is because of the sensors. even the cameras aren't that big. back int he quest 1 and 2 era, i can understand the thing needing to be that big... but in todays day ad age... goggles like VR headsets that have a computer in them, shouldn't be hard to do. as a comparision... lets take the nintendo switch GPU exemple... its a 20 nano GPU. by todays standard we can do 5-7 nanos... those GPUs are like 10 times faster then what the switch uses. so the next generation is expected to be much much more powerful. with GPU going down to that size... we're now literally capable of hiding that tech in anything. its so tiny... i think the quest 2 being redone with current tech, would be twice smaller already ! so knowing that... why create a lightweight PCVR headset when you should do the right thing and do it self functionning like the quest 2 ? right now even if the headset is cheaper... you still require a very good PC. not a good marketting option if you ask me.
@AbstractWacky
@AbstractWacky Жыл бұрын
@@dndbasement2370 why create a lightweight pcvr headset? because thats their target audience and the current pcvr headsets are pretty bulky and heavy anyways so this is a pretty big deal for pcvr users. and also your first claim about pcvr headsets is literally meaningless..they are quite literally meant to be either connected to the pc via a cable for the best connectivity so you dont get a horrible experience, they are portable if you're using an itx desktop or a gaming laptop. and you can use the standalone headsets on the pc wirelessly using the quest or pico but that usually requires an expensive dedicated router and an ethernet connection to your pc for a good time. the "right" thing is not making a standalone headset if thats not what they're going for. and for the actual pcvr headsets are you just saying they're all bad marketing options if they aren't standalone? cause thats what it sounds like also your pc doesnt need to be top tier to run vr at a playable framerate, you can get something like an rx 480 8gb (even 4gb if you lower your expectations) and be fine as long as it has a cpu that can take full advantage of the gpu which most should if its running something like the 480. plus pcvr headsets allow for better graphics and framerates in a ton of games since its using the pc compared to the gpu in the quest by itself running a game (taking blade and sorcery for example for the quest version they had to take the graphics down a pretty big amount to even get it to run on the quest 2) and with the current technology i dont think standalone vr is at pcvr level yet but it'll probably get there in due time when tech gets even greater but then also pc tech will advance with it so its hard to say.
@dndbasement2370
@dndbasement2370 Жыл бұрын
@@AbstractWacky first off.... all headsets not just PCVR are bulky... thats why i said that... there is no demandfor a smaller headset.... the demand is for smaller headset that plays on their own. i mean... our cellphones already do that. that was the point of the whole quest headset since the get go. if the quest cannot do it, then nobody can. these people only sacrificed about everything just to have basically a new monitor on your head. anyone would of done it already if the problem was just the monitor.

Probably getting this to help reduce neck pain from the quest. Hopefully the glare isn't as bad in the final version, I don't remember any other KZfaq mentioning it. Curious though, since it's so custom will it be 100% refundable if buyer isn't satisfied?

I startet to play VR with the Ocolus Rift (yes that old boi) and played wirt it until a half year ago. It never had problem with the software or it broke at any part. But when i switchet to the quest 2 bro that was another level of clarity😂 i wasnt prepared to be able to read text without or barley without this white bloom. But as sharp the quest is compared with the rift i still use from time to time the old one to get this nostalgic feeling when i first got the headset.

It looks like the ideal VR HMD of our dreams but the small FOV of it ruins it..90 degrees is not much (probably feels limited with the narrow FOV like how it is in Quest 2) else with FOV of like 115-120 this could be perfect.

HTC just needs to just take the vive xr elite, cut out the processor, battery, depth sensor.........than give it a display port connection. price it at $700 with controllers and it would be a great option at 250 grams with IPD (feels like HTC doesn't understand the vr market, or are just scared after the disastrous htc cosmos)

while this is a good start, $1000 for the headset alone is absurd. of course it's an enthusiast product, but practically theres no reason to get this when even wireless stand-alone headsets are less expensive. Which sucks... I would love if this was wireless and had inside out / self tracking. I'm getting tired of how bulky headsets are especially when any modern smartphone proves that compacting all that tech shouldnt be super difficult
