Kristen bawling her eyes out while also cracking up perfectly encapsulates this film as a whole. Your brain knows it's ridiculous but you can't help but feel emotional with the story.

Kristen's reaction just shows that a movie is built on the characters more than the plot. If you have characters that people like Kristen can connect with, you can put them in any story and it works. Bay's next movie was Pearl Harbor, a war epic based on true events but the main characters were unlikeable and the love story stupid, so it failed

- I feel Kristen. I watched this movie IN THEATERS when it first came out, and my eyes STILL get watery when Harry says goodbye to AJ. That day, I think they forgot this was a Michael Bay film - DEEP IMPACT was the unofficial "twin" to this movie, in that it came out the same year and was ALSO about an asteroid hitting Earth, except it takes place over the course of 1.5 to 2 yrs. Also absolutely worth a watch.

I've learnt now to research other movie studios releases of similar movies around the same time of big hits. I think there is a 3rd studio that also tried a lower budget Armageddon style release, maybe not, I can't remember. An example I found is that when one studio had James Cameron's The Abyss in the works, 2 other studios quickly got their scripts and filming underway of similar movies. Now although these 2 cannot hold a candle to The Abyss, Leviathan and DeepStar Six are both well worth a watch anyway. So yep, agree, Deep Impact is worth a watch if hungry for more of the same!

I saw this in the theater, and a huge part of the audience teared up at the end. The whole thing is so good at eliciting emotional responses. I love this movie. Yeah, the science is silly, but it's such a great story, with such good characters. I loved Kristen's reaction, it just broke her, and her realization at how much she was breaking - and laughing at that realization while continuing to weep - made it all the better. I laughed out loud when Steph tried to comfort her at the wedding. Look, he married the stripper, they're all there! And then it pans to the pictures of the dead ones, and she breaks all over again, wordlessly gesturing and sobbing anew. XD

When this film came out in 1998, or at least when the first trailers came out for this film, I was working for an engineering company doing core drilling, so imagine my surprise and enthusiasm when the trailer revealed that it was gonna be about core drilling on an asteroid. The thing is that when I watched the film in theaters, I knew most of the technical jargon and strategies they were using to drill that bastard. The hardest difficulty in core drilling is adding and removing the drill auger sections. Adding then as your drilling down, removing them.as you're pulling up your equipment. That takes time, and so even after they got their 800 ft hole dug, I kept thinking, "Yeah now they gotta get all their shit up. And they don't really have the time to do that. When we'd drill, the deepest holes we'd drill were less than 100 ft. Because we were only drilling for bedrock and soil samples for construction projects. And for those, usually a few dozen feet down was good enough to determine the stability of the ground. So I can't imagine having to drill down 800 ft and then pull up 800 ft of drill piping. The movie kinda glossed over that part, but I just remember how long it'd take us just to pull up 50 some odd feet of augers. But that aside, yeah, that part where Ben Afleck has to pleas for Bruce to get back into the ship at the end there was and always be quite emotional despite the cheesiness of the film.

😂😂😂😂Aww Kristen. I am so happy I watched this tonight. You went a totally different shade of red. But it makes sense. I remember the Grace and Harry scene being super emotional when I first saw it too. And y'all were right on the money. It's because they make you like the characters So Much, that you don't want anything bad to happen to them, so when it does...it hurts. Great video ladies. Question tho....is DEEP IMPACT next??? 😏😏😏

Lol I knew the ending was gonna break you two Frfr. Me and my mom no matter how many times we watched this would cry at the end and at the part where Bruce pushed Ben Affleck into the elevator. So I feel you Kristen Frfr. Definitely one of the great 90's movie

OMG, this was amazing! Still loving Team Steph²! An empathetic heart is so special. I too would like to see "Deep Impact", the twin space rock movie to this. I mean, there is no Bruce Willis, but it is still a fun watch. Happy New Year!

Great action adventure disaster film I've ever seen! The opening narration was done by Oscar Winning actor Charleton Heston.

Great character work, silly science, and fantastic reaction. I don't believe I've ever witnessed such a complete break-down during a reaction. I really appreciate the bravery to post it. This is spectacular and glorious. GREAT REACTION!

great reaction. i love how the director for this movie somehow made the asteroid that was coming to earth feel like a living entity as if it was a living creature. one of the few perfect movies ever made in my opinion.
