I'll be in Paris during the Olympics, but as I have been so many times in this beautiful city and have covered most sightseeings and monuments, I don't think the restrictions will be bothering me much. At least, I hope they won't! I have however two questions for you. I'm going to be staying in the 6th arrondissement, in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, on the rive gauche. Where should I cross to the rive droite? Are all bridges going to be open to pedestrians, or only some of them? And second, where should I go to see the opening ceremony for free? I know the upper quais of the Seine will be free, but where do you recommend I should go exactly? Which area? I'd like to see a few athletes arrive on the Seine river, it doesn't have to be a perfect view. I just want to experience the opening ceremony event! Thank you!

I’ve been to the site a million times and just can’t figure it out. And based on all the questions on FB, Reddit etc, lots of others can’t figure it out either! 🥵

Just returned from 2 weeks vacation ( been going for years) in Paris. I’m glad I won’t be there for the Olympics as it will be crazy!

Very helpful Arielle. Question: Do those government pages you linked to have a way to read in English? Good point about things to consider both pre and post actual games. Sounds as if it will be a nightmare to be in Paris this summer. One has to wonder if overall tourism will go down even with the Olympics.

We're there August 19 to 24. The website is a bit confusing. Since the dates we're visiting are between Olympics and Paraolympics: Champ de Mar I assume is still closed. But can we still get up close to Eiffel Tower and maybe go up to the top? Tickets are not on sale yet for it. The latest I saw was August 11th. Trocadero Gardens I assume are still closed, but the Place du Trocadero supposedly reopens in time. Is that the place where it's a large square with golden statues around the edges? Seine river cruises, will they remain available? Any way to pre-purchase metro tickets to avoid the up-charge during Olympic season?

My family and I will be in Paris July 10-16 and will be staying in the 14th arrondissement, in Montparnasse. We are planning on doing some of the touristy things since some of us have not been there. If the line to the louvre on the metro is closed, what should we do to get there?
