Yes please, more Day Z. Like Project Zomboid, it’s a very weird game with huge mechanics and huge jank, loads of potential and yet an odd lack of end game you don’t make for yourself. But it’s a *great* game to watch people play!

As a veteran dayz player this brings me back to the good old days. Where everything was new and exciting. PvP gave me the biggest adrenaline rushes. What I would do to go back and relive the glory days. Hope you stick to it man

Great video! Glad that old wisdom nugget led us back to that firefighter axe, too funny. Had a great time playing along, thanks again to your community for having me. It had been ~2 years since I had played DayZ and ~1 since playing any games so I think we managed a desperate first time experience quite well, hah. 10:00 This. So much this. Your friend is an observant DayZ player. I've been using this knowledge for years for to find grenades for raids. I don't play fully vanilla anymore but on lightly modded servers this works even better. Vanilla has too much trash loot in the loot pool. With unaltered loot tables in vanilla, you see more bucket hats than anything else, as you might have noticed. Rocket never was very good at loot optimization. You can have a Survival game that doesn't crush your soul by half of your deaths being from killing every zed in Berezino, searching every house on the way up the hill to the summer camp, and finding zero food but twenty bucket hats. I look forward to more DayZ content. You're being trained well.

39:43 always put on the best armor you can find (maybe exclduing chainmal), the extra stamina you gain from not having a vest is no use to you when a single bullet to the chest can kill you. Same goes for any military helmets. The armor you left was a modded version of a plate carrier that protects you just as much and just cant be repaired

A little tip, you can close the doors on zombies if you don’t wanna fight all of them. Also zombies can only really climb fences, so get high ground to fight off a hoard.

YES i watched this vod on twitch and im happy to see the video for it. MORE DayZ content! MORE! Just a tip when it comes to melee.. the zombies attack in a pattern.. they lunge and then do a overhanded two hand attack.. then theres a space for an attack.. so block and wait for the zombie to do the double handed attack then its your turn for an attack.. then repeat.. never attack at a zombie until they do the two handed attack.. they will keep doing one handed lunges and keep hitting you while you try to swing on them.. so let them lunge.. let them do the two handed attack.. THEN swing on them.. youll avoid getting hit.. works perfectly. Its all about timing.

Also, a bit of unsolicited advice: there are many freshie tutorials on youtube that can give you a quick run down on survival techniques and I totally recommend all fresh dayz players to give them a watch. They really go a long way.

If you are considering playing modded I would recommend The Labs servers if you want Tarkov themed Dayz server. My second suggestion would be the Rearmed servers, however these servers are usually best played with at least a three man since large groups usually roam these servers.

@@SwampFoxTV Yup basically they took most of the items directly from Tarkov and put them in Dayz. It is a server that was created by a pretty popular Dayz KZfaqr called Nezar.

Some good learning experiences there. That last encounter was unfortunate, especially with single shot guns. I love seeing you learn and experience new, to you, games and seeing more duo Aethos runs, would be awesome. DayZ is a game I've only very very lightly dabbled in, so I will learn from your (mis) adventures. haha Keep on rockin Swamp.

Found out that this game started as a mod off of Arma. This is huge because in a recent OperatorDeruski (sorry about the spelling) video he shows how these games started all the modern mainstream games.

My only problem with DayZ is i prefer to be shooting somewhat quick with limited time to game as a father and ammo is next to impossible to find.

Yeah that's fair. I think your character can be continued over multiple sessions but I get it's just not the same vs playing faster paced games on short time

I'd love to see you play Scum sometime! You would feel pretty at home with the gunplay I think but it has the DayZ survival experience that is actually super fleshed out with a whole metabolism system and stuff. Current state of the game is a little iffy so maybe wait until it goes to 1.0 (current version is 0.95) because the latest update changed how zombies spawn and it is kind of crap at the moment but as soon as they get that fixed I can not recommend Scum enough to anyone looking for a great survival game with some pieces of the Tarkov experience.

The melee jank is a core DayZ feature, you just need to master it's intricacies. With practice you'll stop missing your swings and successfully block attacks. Not that you'll need it much once you get a silenced .22 for zombie killing, or better yet, get a feel for how to avoid their aggro in the first place. Keep in mind DayZ was made after a mod from a tactical military sim, not an action adventure game with smooth combat finishers and stealth takedowns.

I didn't experience any myself but we only played for about 12hrs which is a pretty small sample size. Sadly, all competitive online shooters have cheaters

@@SwampFoxTV You played on a community server which usually have barely any cheaters as they have admins checking any suspicious players. Official servers on the other hand are almost completely unplayable, you constantly get killed by magical bullets that are silent and go thru walls
