I'm pleased you had a good experience. Getting a drivers licence varies from state to state and office to office. Some require a written test only some a road test and some both. The next adventure is getting a ticket with that newly minted licence! 😝🤔

Here in San Luis Potosí the state offices for plates and drivers licenses since about April or May 2019 are now only issuing license plates because of Covid-19. Before this you waited in line and got your drivers license where there were no appointments. You couldn't make any appointments. Since then they moved getting a drivers license to the state head office of the state police. There you need an appointment and it now is a small office on the main floor that used to be a waiting room with steel benches and reception area when asked to come in. The main area to report crimes is another building beside in the same enclosed secured complex and has long lines outside the door often. Probably after Covid-19 they will go back to issuing drivers licenses at the 6 or 7 local offices around the cities of San Luis Potosí and Soledad, which is a large city connected to San Luis Potosí. I contacted the NM Mexico consulate about two weeks ago to see what I needed to get started on my temporary visa and I was told not to start the process until 2022. The reason was they want to have the most recent info on the application. My goal is to be there in SLP in April 2022. She said she would send me info via email yet haven't received yet. Will follow up with her. When did you start the Visa process from the U.S. to Mexico? Thanks for all your great content!

Every state in Mexico is entirely different on how you can get a driver’s licence. Also, it can change from one year to the next.

Still didn’t get where’s the location you get Mexican driver's license? I heard each Mexican state is very different, and some states made it easier for foreign residents than others? some were always asking paper tests and driving tests regardless of foreign driver licenses, and some other locations can make it without any tests; Did you mention Mexico city or another place? I am right now in Ensenada in Baja, wonder anyone knows the requirements in Baja?

Is it possible to get a Mexico driver license if I only plan to stay in there for several days to a couple of weeks? Is there a easy way to get Proof of address or utility bill within that small amount of time?

WOW congrats, you are on the road being more and more set living there. So ok Marc and Paulette, and this is for anybody out there in general. What's the benefits having that Mexican DL ? Is it so someone then can buy and drive a Mexican plated car or ? Also, you did not state where you did all of that like what office or was it like a DMV in Mexico ? Also now, can you drive a US plated car in Mexico having that Mexican DL ? Ok, I quess you can since you have your US DL still. But if someone would not have that then what ? Also, I wanted to ask do you guys have or did you sign up for the Medicare and if you did, did you sign up then for the plan A and B or just having that A. Many I heard cancel the Medicare when thsy end up living ful time in Mexico as you do. They just buy a privat health insurance witch is around 100 US dollars a month or so. Having Medicare, that can be around 350 a month if you have your plan A and B. Ok, hope everything is good wth you guys, I'm very happy for you.
