Hello everyone, and welcome back to D.W.D! On today's episode, Michael is doing his best to prepare for chickens coming to The Landing. Also, The feed store has changed ownership. Check out the video to find out who has taken over and what they are up to.

Hey Mike. Glad you are getting some chicks. A bit of advice from someone who has chickens myself. The bigger the waterer the better. Makes it easier to clean and during the hot weather it will last longer with less filling. As far as feed goes I put the food up every night so it doesn't attract unwonted animals during the night. I also wanted to let you know if you haven't been told already that it is not any cheaper having your own chickens for eggs, but the taste is so much better, and you know what is being feed to them. Just be careful LOL chicken math is real. Good luck with the new chicks.

If those are really small chicks you better put some rocks in that water or they're going to drown and those feeders I wouldn't even bother with a feeder I tried that too but my chickens would go through two gallons of feed in a couple of days because they never stop eating chickens will eat all day long you're better they're only supposed to eat one cup of feed per day for full grown chicken they're better off to just feed them in an open bowl or on the ground bring in your feed at night if you don't want to get rats I make sure no feed is in the cages or in the run at all at night time Because all that does is cause problems just saying

When I have baby chicks all I get is a little red dishwashers that screw onto a canning jar and if they're really small small chicks you even got to put rocks in those little tiny ones

That top feeder you were looking at that you were saying that's something different that's one of the best waters to get because you put that inside your coop you hook a hose up to it and you can put a 5GALLON bucket or 50 gallon bucket whatever and it just feeds the water more and more while they drink out of that feeder it big the big container that the hose run to feeds up the feeder or water

Here is something that might help you out with baby chicks and chickens it's called magic water one gallon of warm water Two tablespoons apple cider vinegar two crushed garlic cloves and a quarter cup of honey apple cider vinegar has to have the mother in it and the honey has to be non processed honey natural honey makes it all up and you just give put that as their water helps chickens turkeys all kinds of poultry very much And if you're not using that you should always add apple cider vinegar to their water anyway

My husband had an injury like yours. Sorry to say his was his rotator cuff. If it isn’t repaired in a timely manner you will suffer always and mobility will become permanent. If you haven’t seen an orthopedist I suggest you get in gear and consult one soon.

😮 Mike I have a feeling that you will need to see a Chiropractor someday when the pain is not so bad. You may have something outta line causing the movement problem. I don't know but my brother was having trouble at work and he seen a Chiropractor and they fixed his problems and he still goes from time to time.

The place where you got your chicken feed from whole foods, was nice little place. The man was very friendly, that is what I love about good old Country people. I grew up around nice people like him. I would never buy an automatic feeder they're so easy to make out of a bucket you just screw a metal dish on the bottom that's bigger than the bucket cut some holes in the bucket have a lid and just fill it up with food that's how I made mine at about 2GALLON bucket but I don't use that anymore

Mike there are a lot of out here that have loads of knowledge on chickens and other feathered fowl like i have sixty years and there's more with more years but what i to say can be argued over one thing is the use of medicated feed if your going raise organic chickens it recommend not to use medicated feed i personally have never used it in the 60 years and i have never vaccinated either as long as there is no report of coccidiosis in the flock or the area you live there is no need to spend the extra dollars and in my are its a saving of about 5-7 dollars a 50lb bag plus i use a grarin co-op to get my feed for my feathered birds and pigs much cheaper this is all my experience and opinion good luck raising your birds

. I'd use the medicated till they're old enough to start laying so to not loose any babies due to the things that can kill young birds. Once they reach 4 months or so to start laying, stop the medicated and go to laying pellets. Good luck Mike do your own research boo. God loves ya cause I sure do. ❤️🙏🫠

Ummm... Serenity is in a kid's 8/9 (M) Jacob is kids 10/11 (M) Talon I have no idea about because he will be bigger when he gets home
