I once got an interview and I'm from a non-target school, not even a decent school, I failed which I don't really mind and want to try it again, but I can't help when I met the other candidates and the people who work there I felt an inferior complex. Something that I really need to overcome. Thx for the video.

Hi kchoi! I've only watched 2 of your videos (so far) but wanted to say you're an inspiration! I started my career in one of those "big consulting firms" you mentioned and now I'm in a FAANG tech company, and yet I still learned something new from your answers! And you give me hope in that I don't need fancy equipment or super crazy editing techniques to get a larger following on KZfaq, as long as the content is on point, so that's super encouraging for me. Keep it up! Looking forward to more videos :). Oh and stay safe!

Hi Kristina, thank you for sharing all the great tips and advice with us. Just a quick question, I know for consulting, it is a lot about business cases or business sense. Do you have any tips or suggestions about how to improve business sense or business acumen, where can we practice those business cases?

Getting into corporate environmen is all about personality. If you are “enterpreneur” kind of mind - you are not fit. However, if you are dependant on “making a career”, “having fancy job title” (without getting really getting paid that much) - you are fit. As long as you are not someone that wants “more for themselves”, you can make it and that’s what they’re looking for. Having Ivy league degree is great help for that, as these kind of people don’t really add much in actual experience and hence, aren’t threat to the top management that actually earns off of you.

Thank you kchoi!! You always answer all those questions I have in so much detail. There is another questions I always meant to ask, which is that when I reach out to people who I've never met before on LinkedIn for asking about stuff (let's say a certain consulting role), do you have advice on what to say so that the other person does not feel like it's "another annoying message"?
@bykchoi
@bykchoi 3 жыл бұрын
I personally think being direct is best! And if there is some sort of personal connection that can be made (without forcing it), include it. I tend to respond to messages where I can tell the person did not simply copy and paste something, but has a clear idea of what they are looking or asking for. Good luck!!

Hey kchoi. U have become such a great source of information for me as I have recently graduated and want to get into PR . Thank you! I would also like to see how one should compile a press kit for your company. (I am a newbie ) most technical of PR and communications are not really covered in school book. One has to look for some really great industry leaders in order to know further.
@bykchoi
@bykchoi 4 жыл бұрын
So glad I can provide a little bit of help! A press kit would include everything you would want a journalist/anyone in the media to know about the brand or company you are sharing about. For example, when I was doing fashion PR, our press kits included the clothing brand’s logo assets, information/background about the brand, and look books showcasing their signature style and latest season. You’d also want to include contact info (which is usually the PR agency). I don’t think there’s a set way that a press kit should look, but just imagine if you were a journalist and you wanted information about a brand, what information would be helpful? And how would you want the information provided to you? You want to create an easy, convenient “kit” of information.

Help me !!!!!!! I am a BCA(Bachelor of computer application) graduate. During my final year, I got this opportunity to work as a SAGE PEOPLE IMPLEMENTATION CONSULTANT. After two months of remote training, I started working on live projects. Once I completed my BCA course I started working full time as a consultant. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue working after 3 months because I got arrears in my final semester. It took nearly a year to complete my degree successfully. Now I have been preparing for software developer interviews for the last 4 months, waiting for interview calls. I am having some questions that confusing me. Am I wasting my experience as an Implementation Consultant? Can I use my knowledge and experience in "sage people" products to get a job in better-paying products like SAP, Oracle? I am 27. Am I too late to become a consultant?

Your Videos are really always very helpful. Though can you suggest some school or strategy as my GPA is less than upper 2.1 UK degree. I am looking for masters in management. Rest of my profile has Job experience, I did 2 startups, national Humanitarian works, and scintific journals etc. I am a bit confused as most University require 2.1 Hons. But My slovak scale it goes to 86%. But I have 80 %.
@bykchoi
@bykchoi 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure how strict universiites are on those grade requirements (especially in the UK). In general, I think that your acceptance depends on more than just your grades (like your experience and other things that you listed), but again, not sure how strict UK univesities are if you are below the "required" GPA. Best of luck!

TheDragonOfDojima04 If management consulting is what you’re interested in then the target schools would be schools like Stanford, UCLA, usc, UC Berkeley. I don’t know much about csulb or SDSU, unfortunately. That doesn’t mean you can’t break into Management Consulting at a CSU. You just have to get a near perfect gpa and network since firms like McKinsey, Bain, etc won’t be recruiting on your campus.
