Welcome Adventurers to a new travel vlog!
In this second Serbian Travel Vlog, Me and Mary get Caught up in a crazy thunderstorm whilst getting lost in Novi Sad! In my last day in Serbia, i experience some delicious serbian food from a Bakery before saying my farewell to Mary!
Belgrade is one of the oldest capitals in the world, with over 7000 years of continuity. Due to it’s extraordinary location, it has attracted people since the neolithic times, and several neolithic settlements have been found throughout the city territory, the most important one being Vinča (a Danube suburb of Belgrade).
Celts have settled the city around the 4th century B.C. and named it Singidunum. Then came the Romans, developing a luxurious city over the centuries. In the 5th century A.D. it was destroyed by the Huns and later conquered and reconquered by Goths, Byzantines, Slavs, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Serbs, Turks, Austrians until it finally become Serbian again in the nineteenth century.

It's got about 400.000 inhabitants. And yeh it's officially a city 🙂 Nothing to do with St. Petersburg whatsoever. It was built as a provincial Austria-Hungarian town, loads of similar places in Hungary. Petrovaradin actually is a part of NS. There are a few thousand tree trunks from Whales built into the fortress. 🙂

Thanks :) Never said it had anything to do with St.Petersburg, said it looks similar to parts of St.Petersburg. Yes it may be part of Novi sad but it was its own town. Did whales grow legs and come on land to build?!😂

You should learn if you are visiting Serbia that kosovo is SERBIA! So correct your map to avoid confusion!

You should respect people’s own views. In the west it’s considered its own country and a quick Google search shows that it declared its independence from Serbia in 2008 😉 yet I’m aware Serbs still claim it as their own and I respect that. Like I said, majority of the west recognises it as its own independent country.

@@CiaranTravels True, "the West" recognises it as an independent state (the states, not sure about people), apart from a few European countries including the EU member states of Greece and Spain. However, the most of "the East" doesn't recognise it and the UN doesn't recognise it. You are cute and seem curious enough but don't behave in the way which could be labelled disrespectful, cocky, arrogant and neocolonial in a famous Western, especially British, style. And you haven't answered to the person above -- top or bottom?

@@withoutshadowww hey! Yeah I completely understand that! But also when I goto a country that I haven’t researched much (normally I do but this was a spontaneous trip) so I was kind of trying to learn the history as I go, admittedly Serbia is one of the countries I didn’t know much about regarding history, apart from the fact that it was part of Yugoslavia, so naturally.. as many people do, resort to Google! As I said, I’m aware that Serbs recognise Kosovo as its own still and I’m aware the west recognise as its own independent country, everyone has their own views which I respect! But I was just going off of what I was learning at the time! I’ve never been arrogant or disrespectful to any place I’ve visited! I’ve spent a lot of time in Eastern Europe and I love it, I prefer it so much to the west and have nothing but love and respect to everyone I’ve encountered in the east! In terms of replying to others, I will do! I’ve just been busy! But Thankyou for your comment!

@@CiaranTravelsI agree that peoples opinions should be respected, BUT saying that Kosovo si an independent country in video about Serbia is VERY disrespectful and offensive towards Serbs. We have a lot of history there and a lot of mejor Serbian historical events happen there. Telling a Serb that Kosovo is Albanian is like telling a Jew that Jerusalim is Palestineian. Also in the video you said that you really like history about WW1 and WW2. Serbia was part of both of them and a lot of things have happen here during that time. Its very complicated tho and a lot of people have different opinions and perspectives about the events that have happen during that time, especially during the WW2. It still can be really interesting if you like puzzeling up the pisses from all the different sorces and figuring out what was going on. Great videos btw, thank you for showing our country to other people!

Serbo-Byzantine Church doesn’t exist. The St. Mark's Church is a Serbian Orthodox church, built in the Serbo-Byzantine style. You are mixing up architectural style and the Church as an institution.

Its neither. It's brutalist architecture, something that actually emerged in United Kingdom during the 50s.

@@DDtch6669you are correct my man, I only refer brutalism as Soviet because it was the most common and recognisable type of architecture during the Soviet era

Brutalism is not Soviet architecture, it was more popular in the UK than in Soviet Union.

@@CiaranTravels Maybe some are associating it more with Soviets, but it is wrong. Some of the building you showed are indeed Soviet-looking Plattenbau, but they're not brutalism.
