Easy method to break loose the harmonic balancer. Remove inspection cover from trany, place a block of wood on your floor jack and put preasure against the fly wheel. The weight of the engine will keep the crank from turning.

You need blocks between your frame and axle in the rear, you want your hitch at max heights thats allowed. chain comes out from under sled, it lifts when you take off. Then add as much wieght to the front to your weight class. don,t let out a bunch off air out of your tires. thats the main things.

A pneumatic fan clutch removal tool works so good on removing a fan clutch. I absolutely love mine ! Around 120 bucks. I always put a 1/4 thick piece of plywood behind the radiator to protect it from getting damaged while working on an engine.

No one thinks they’ll do it again till afterwards. My plan was one time. Here I am 23 pulls later. Definitely use 4 low and 3rd gear, low is also better on the parts vs high… high also bogs down quickly. Boost her up and let the wheels eat! Depending on hp you may need 4th gear. I use Manuel mode and let the alli shift for me. Also use tow haul. Good luck!!!

Card board on the radiator is a good idea. And deffenitly a 3/4" breaker bar lol I bent a 1/2" bar like it was nothing!

Josh sometimes using a penetrating lube and heat will prevent sockets and breaker bars from breaking

I always throw a piece of cardboard on the backside of the radiator before removing the fan.

Put it 3rd gear and 4 low. 2001 duramax bone stock except cold air intake and muffler delete. Pulled 247.8 feet. First time with it hooked 🪝 to a sled. It's fun just expensive if you break. But I you have a trailer to haul wifemax where I drove mine to the pull and back home

So I fabricated my own 3/4 breaker bar, and used a 2" , 16' long pipe as a cheater bar, a 3rd hand to hold the socket square on the bolt, and it was as smooth and easy as spreading warm butter on toast

Talking about the harmonic balancer crank bolt, mossman 381 helped me with that, when it comes to my lb7 you and mossman 381 are who I turn to, thank you for all your help

Look for a stubby 1/2" air impact for the harmonic balancer and use that

I trashed a heavy duty breaker bar on that same bolt! Wish I had the made this upgrade while I was there. Good luck on the pull. I'm looking forward to the video. Wifemax is my favorite truck on your channel

I broke a 1/2 inch breaker like that I put it in the vice squeezed it back together and welded it with a small impact extension hasn't broke yet.peace

I'm doing a similar build on my LML that you are doing on the L5P, just got my tunes from duramax tuner aka calibrated performance, would like to do the hot and cold pipes and down and up pipes next with a lift pump, then cp3 and turbo down the road, all emissions equipped

Don’t put it in low range 1st gear, you need some wheel speed, gonna take a boosted 2nd gear launch, trannys gonna get hot hot bit the ol Allison should hold it, you know about the tie rods so make sure those are reinforced or your running the cryptonite front end parts. Give er hell bro !

Tekton makes an amazing 3/4 breaker bar like 4 feet long that works perfectly on crank bolts...never broken it yet and always come free

74lbs + 105° is what is it supposed to be tighten to I always use a torque multiplier to brake them loose at the dealership you should get one they are a life saver

What tires are on wife max? Those should do good on the pulling track!!! Tire pressure is key, around 50 in the rear and 20 in the front is what a lot of people run around us.

You should have a dust cover on the bottom left of the transmission and put the tool in through and you don't have to pull the starter off

HorseTorque Diesel is a YT channel, hes the engine builder at Power Driven Diesel and he has documented like everything to build a pulling truck. Love his channel and all the info he puts out for these trucks, much like your channel but hes a bit more involved in the bottom ends and racing stuff.

Sooo…. You took the starter out…. Then used it to break the balancer bolt loose?? I’m guessing the starter footage is carryover from your previous video? And doesn’t need to be removed?

He had to remove the starter so he can lock up the flywheel. That way when he tries to remove the bolt from the balancer it doesn't spin

I gotcha… went back n watched it a few times…. Now I see what he was trying to do….. I got a little lost when that footage was identical to the starter removal video he posted yesterday… also looks like if a guy is gonna do that, it would be a good time to replace the water pump at the same time if you were running the original yet

Probably from bad tuning or bad setups in general the lb7/lly cranks are the best stock replacement cranks for making power lb7 crank lbz rods and lb7 pistons a lot of people do that combo and make good numbers

Have you ever had problems with stock injector hold downs mine keep flexing and fucking my injectors so I ordered billet injector hold downs just wondering if this is a normal thing on high power duramax’s

Yes it’s a pain man sometimes if you keep driving on them they clear up. I don’t get it myself but if you bought the upgraded hold downs it should solve the issue

Hey does anyone got a second to help me out. I got an 03 lb7 in the past week or so. The day I got it my ac went out and I haven’t been able to get it working again. I was looking through receipts that was left in the glove box by previous owner and there has been about $1,500 worth of parts put on the truck to get the ac working and nothing has helped. If anyone has any time to discuss it I’d appreciate it.

Short out the pressure switch connector by the battery by the firewall and see if compressor kicks on. Pressure switch might be bad.

@@user-up3xc1np4g I did that today. I actually tried a new one on it. I shut the ac off and truck off and replaced that switch. Turned the truck on and turned the ac on and it was working. When I cut the truck back off and started it back the ac compressor wasn’t working again.
