He's a doll.. here's a little bit of advice.. normally after a dog eats he should have to use the outside bathroom about a half hour later also taking him on walks will aide his digestive system making him go. Also PetSmart has training treats and after he uses the potty outside you give him a treat immediately where he went than he'll know where potty is. Also take him to the same area every time his scent is there. Don't scold or get frustrated he doesn't understand yet and it will upset him even more. If the want train him on a leash you can buy a collar maybe try to get used to wearing it first maybe 5 minutes at a time then increase the time overtime. Also for teaching him to walk on a leash maybe after he's used to the collar attach the leash then stand away from him looking at and call him name then reward with training treats and a high pitch good boy ( or his name). PetSmart also has puppy classes he can ( and you) benefit from.. just some tips to get you started..if you can think like an 8 week puppy! U have to understand how they see things. Just remember he just was taken from his mother and litter the ones he knows. Take care. I'd to see updates. Also there are training KZfaq videos.

Jada I know exactly what you going through. I just got a brand new puppy as well. But I got him at 4 weeks. The biting and crying all the time gets very annoying. But the crying will get better once he warms up to you. But the biting good luck, I am still trying to train my puppy to not bite me. Keep your head up, don’t give up. Because it’ll all be worth it in the end ❤️ make sure you clean, do your hair, vaccum or whatever you need to do while he is sleep. Get as much done as you can, because once he is up, he will make it all about him. I had my breakdown as well, it’s hard, but we are mommy now. Hopefully he is better with sleeping at night and everything.

I have a 2 year old mini poodle. My boyfriend and I broke our puppy out of biting by putting our finger in her mouth and holding her tongue down.its called the jaw pinch technique. I had a breakdown as well shortly after getting my dog because of the crying. I told her to be quiet when she would cry and now she is so quiet

Also when my dog cries she now correlates that we will take her outside to potty. So that is the only time she makes noise.

I believe the best way to train him if it’s possible for you is to put him on a schedule for everything like specific times for eating,bathroom,nap times/bed time! And even if you do put him on a potty schedule and he has an accident inside the house still make sure he goes out side on schedule! And he’s very adorable 🥰
@lxvesxars08
@lxvesxars08 5 ай бұрын
And another tip is if he doesn’t use the bathroom out side when you bring him back in put him in his crate for maybe 10-15 mins then bring him right back outside you can continue to do this until he uses it outside so he’ll know outside is for potty and not the house! And dogs go off scent so he smells his potty scent in the house that’s why he uses the bathroom inside.. so if possible take him to the same area every time outside so he can smell his scent to potty hope this helps!😊

This is apart of the puppy process girly! You got this but you gotta be firm. Redirect bathroom times so if he use the bathroom outside reward or if he uses a puppy pad reward with a treat so that he knows. You gotta be consistent when it comes to strict with training. Reward when he listens but I think you’re doing great for your first time

Put the crate in your room next to bed on top of something and put one of shirts in his crate with your scent on it. Puppies are a lot work. They are like having children. It takes time. Take him out on a schedule and look for his cues for when he has to go to bathroom. You probably have to keep him outside longer. When he goes outside praise and then give him treat. Also look into bell training. It will get better . Trust the process.

Hey Jada!! Puppies are a lot of work! I've found that potty training them especially living on the 3rd floor you have to take baby steps with them. It takes a lot of patience for sure! Don't bring him in until he uses the bathroom outside. If he does have an accident (pooping) in the house grab him and the poop go outside and place the poop outside on the grass then put his nose close to it. That way he can associate using the bathroom with outside instead of in the house. That method worked for me in the past but every puppy is different. You both are still filling each other out but with a routine in place, you can be successful.

When it’s eating time. You eat befor him not after him. This lets him know you are above him and he learns his place. When it’s bathroom time and he pottty say good potty. This reinforce him knowing this is where I poop and pee. Ditch the blue pads. When he nips at you, redirect his attention or give him an edible for his size.

I really love the transparency you showed in this video. Thinking of getting a puppy myself and watching this helps inexperienced people like me know what to expect. I’ll probably have a mental breakdown too lol! I also wanna tell you that you are doing amazing and you’re one of the most compassionate dog owners I’ve watched. I love how you keep emphasizing that he’s only a baby and doesn’t know any better while feeling overwhelmed yourself. It takes a genuinely compassionate person to say that. You go girl!! This dog is so lucky to have found a home with you. I wish you both the best!!

Girl stick it out. I had my first puppy last April when he was 10 weeks and he is now 11 months. He is trained and gives me joy but the early days were hard. I ended up getting a new one who is now 9 weeks and peeing everywhere but her pee pad. It's tiring but if you feel alone unsupported, use Rover for dog sitting and some of them help train your pup too whilst you get a break. I picked up my new one the same time as you so you'll be fine.

Luckily poodle mixes are very smart. He will catch on with consistency. Crate training is hardest least fun part until he’s housebroken. Feeding, 20 mins then outside to poop & pee. Give a treats, play a lil and back into crate, only a couple weeks and he will catch on.
@dogmomJay89
@dogmomJay89 5 ай бұрын
Also try the triangle method if your doing the crate it’s when you start in the crate take him outside to potty than he gets a little free time inside not a lot tho like start out small with free time around the house than back in crate than back outside. His crate time should be longer than his free time in the house until he get better with holding and learning where to go. Also I use a leash and walk with the leash inside up to the training pad and that help my baby learn to go on the pads. I was consistent and he learned quick. I hope you understand and this can help you.

I am so sorry, but it is like having a kid. It may seem like he is afraid of you as you are showing you are afraid of him. You may find like a human child, you will be up at night. He is a baby. Keep purring him out after eating and whenever he naps. He will get the hang of it, but it is up to you to show him the way.

I have a Cavapoo puppy as well she is 6 months now. All I want you to know everything you’re feeling is valid ! He is a baby so it does take a lot of timeeeee and patience. Cavapoos do learn fast, also try to stay calm because dogs do feed off your energy. The first 2-3months is hard because of bed times , feeding schedule etc but it does get easier. I cried just like you in the beginning cause my girl is very vocal as well but once you learn each other it’s easier to figure out what he needs. Just stick to a schedule it’ll help ALOT

Omgggggg girlll you are TOO realllll for this transparency!!!!(beautiful dog btw!) got my dog a couple years ago and sis let me tell you, that 1, you are doing a much better job than you think you are and 2, you are absolutely not aloneeeee. The puppy phase is the most adorable version of hell!!!!!, but it won’t last forever. I used to be so hard on myself being so overwhelmed by the constant mess and noise, but I knew I couldn’t give up on my baby, as stressed as I was (this on top of being in a whole grad school 😵‍💫 and working part time!) I felt so bad that I was already stretched thin for energy. But just take it one day at a time, as he gets older he’ll start understanding better, soon he’ll be bonding to you I promise! (When I first brought my puppy home I thought he hated us lmaooo, he was so detached) but now this dude loves me soooo much and is just the sweetest thing everrrrrrr, was so worth it!!!!!!!!!!! You tube is your friend! Look up tricks/trainings applicable for his age! As soon as you can, teach him “focus”!!!! Gives you his full attention so you can tell him what other tasks he needs to do ie:lay down, also “place” has been a majorrrrrr life saver mental health wise!!!!! Get ready to learn a whole new language because dogs don’t learn/communicate how we do, and what you think would work to teach them something could have the opposite/no effect! Ex: ( getting puppy used to walking on a leash, you’d think they’d understand to simply walk when feeling the tug, but the tug causes them to pull back. I looked it up and it says to lure them to walk by dragging a treat down the walking path! Absolutely worked! Works for getting up and down stairs too! As they get older they will shock you how smart they are as they learn by association! I also recommend teaching stay and hush(probs a little older) asap ! Before you know it you’ll start noticing there’s been less messes and they’ll start going outside consistently (with treat training!!!!!!!!!, taught mine to go on cue!). For the most part the only thing they’ll be biting is their toys, etc. Oh yeah don’t forget, enthusiasm and treats simultaneously are key in training!!!! They’ll start learning by association what you mean when you say yes or no or ah ah or no no , etc and that’s when it starts becoming easier! Teach him car etiquette as soon as possible so he can get in and out on his own, hop in the backseat on cue, not jump out of the vehicle, Omggg on top of everythingggggg my guy would not freaking eatttttttttt. I was so stressed, thought he was sick, but no just bougie. Had to find what was right for him (apparently expensive ass kibble and wet food😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫) ! Also had to micro diced his food because he wouldn’t eat anything too big or that was crunchy. Their appetite changes as they grow so be prepared and don’t be discouraged!! Ex: he used to love bananas but not anymore. Be prepared to play around with the balance of this. Mine also got baddddd kennel cough as a puppy!!! Almost a year old! Right after a dog park! So be careful at those, don’t let him drink out the dog bowls! If you think something is wrong try your hardest to get him in his primary vet if non emergency because emergency vet is expensiveeee. There’s doggy insurance out there if that’s something you’re interested in! Strongly advise to start brushing his teeth at least once a week to prevent hard build up on the teeth! Be careful with trying new products with new scents and perfumes because my guy got an allergic reaction last year to a new shampoo 😢 Talk to other dog owners!!!! Petsmart does puppy and doggy lessons!!!!! And omg YESSSSS I did nottttt know I was enlisting myself for motherhood junior, they are like raising a literal child and once grown stay in a toddler like state. But omgggg I have 0 regrets love my baby soooo much. When I first got him I would say helllll noooooooooooooooooo!!!! When asked if I wanted another but now I do lol. And today he’s healthy, happy, beautiful, warms my heart going in the store with him and he’s calm and quiet ( and he was a mf barkerrrrrrrrrrrrr [yorkie mix]), silly, and so sooooo worth it. You got this mama ❤!!!!!!!!!

As a first time doggy mom myself I bought my dog when i got my first apartment and graduated from college. I work in news with harsh hours and in the beginning it was so hard trying not to leave him. I just kept trying different things. I had a plastic play pen and he would cry and bark all day. I got complaints from my neighbors. I tried putting a cover over the play pen and he escaped. He would jump out and etc. i just bought different play pens and i potty trained him with “go potty” every time he went to the pad. I also started the pet smart training for me and him and we practiced tricks and manners. When he cried i would make him stay in the cage until he was quiet. I would let him out when he was quiet and say “good quiet” and reward him. I’m a year with my doggy and he’s potty trained but he’s not neutered, so when he’s in that season he tends to mark his territory sometimes.

That first night you’re gonna go through the whining & screaming because everything is so new to him. My German Shepard is about to be 7-yrs old and I got her when she was 6-weeks. My first time having a puppy/dog and it was extremely hard but I stuck it through. I feel so safe and less lonely having her around.

My cavapoo is 16 months. From my experience, the optimal time I had to train her with ease was as soon as I picked her up from the breeder at 8 wks. Cavapoos are half poodle -- smart and learn quickly. With high value treat motivational training, mine learned how to sit on command the first night and pad trained. Right now are the easiest time to train your puppy because I noticed by 6+ months it took more effort to teach her new behavioral techniques. Begin socialization after the vaccines

🐶He too cute but there gonna be time where he not gonna listen and being off track . but there a time and place for everything as you will definitely need to understand him more and grow with him , bond with him and have that trust in yourself with your new puppy ❤ .

I have a standard poodle. She hardly ever cried when she was a puppy. But I had the luxury to be with her 24/7 and she sleeps in the bed with me since the day I took her home at eight weeks. I know, not everyone has the option but what I’m getting at is that puppies are going through trauma the moment they are taken away from their family and everything that they know. Imagine being able to sleep in the warmth of your mother and siblings and being around in a social pack 24/7 to suddenly sleeping in a crate, alone. And since dogs are pack animals, it isn’t in their nature to be alone. And puppies are just babies after all, so it’s even harder for them and they are probably homesick and afraid. We have to be patient with them and fill that void. And give them as much love, nurturing, and attention as possible. Have them be close to you for as often and as long as possible. Now on the biting issue, my girl was a Tanzanian devil. 😂 Puppies navigate the world using their mouth and their teeth are itching like crazy. The best advice I have is to redirect and reward, redirect and reward, and redirect and reward over and over again. It may take a week, a month, or even a year, but dogs only learn from positive reinforcement. So when the dog starts to chew on something or biting something they’re not supposed to, remove the item, or gently move them away from what ever it is (sometimes it’s furniture) and put something like a chew toy in their mouth and reward them with treats, positive words, or even a belly rub, etc. As you get to know your companion, you will learn what rewards they value the most. Use those. And again, you have to have patience. I don’t have advice on potty training because my girl came potty trained when I brought her home, but she did have accidents here and there and what I learned or what worked for me is to completely remove the puppy pads out of the house, because puppy pads teach dogs that it is okay to use the restroom outside as well as inside the house and can confuse them a bit. Immediately after the puppy uses the bathroom outside, reward them. And keep doing that. And lastly, having a puppy is like having a baby. They are breathing, feeling, fragile little babies. It’s never going to be easy, but remember the more time you spend away from your puppy or lock them in a crate, the more they aren’t learning and socializing and the more anxious they become. And it will cause behavior problems and anxious behavior not only now but also down the road. Lots a love, empathy and understanding will give you the greatest companion of your life.

Ok I’m sorry for commenting so much lol but having a puppy is hard!! My puppy just turned one and he still has his moments. Just try staying consistent with everything I’ve learned that I was letting him be up under me too much in the beginning so now he has attachment issues

Girl I went through the same thing a month ago with a 9 week old maltipoo. I used an old playpen lined with pads and just put her in there every so often and she would learn to scratch at it when she had to go and I took away the pen and she knows the pad is the place to go. She was scared of me too when I first got her but now she’s my shadow. You can do it! I felt everything you do and it’s worth it trust me
