We use clear bins in the fridge so we can see what's inside. Bottles go in the doors. If you do a lot of cans, there are can racks.

@@Five2Go I live in sticks and bricks and I haven't found anything better. The ONLY tools other than clear bins have been a soda can rack and a soup can that holds tubes of cream cheese. Fruits and vegetables go into one drawer, and deli meats and cheeses in the other. Salad dressings, milk, and bottled drinks in the doors. I have 2 short shelves, one has herbs, one has various butters.

Oh, and when I go camping, the soup can with the single serving cream cheese tubes gets moved into the camp chest. I've moved up, that is now a 12v compressor "ice chest".

Use spring rods to keep things from shifting to much in the refrigerator. On the bead issue. I have used a pillow to pad the shelf beside and add to the usable width of the bead. Also when you have the slide out you can stuff a pillow in at the head of the bead between the mattress and headboard. to make the mattress feel longer. Remember to take it out before running the slide in.

Go to TJ Maxx Home Goods (Marshall’s has them too) and buy their plastic refrigerator storage boxes. They’re super afordable and I put my eggs in them and condiments, veggies & they even have fruit keepers all stackable and easy to store, then they can be kept in place with the fridge “curtain rods” things. That’s how I do our fridge and they work great! Also I just love your Vector, he’s so adorable!!

It's definitely not for everyone! We try to prioritize experiences and family time over possessions and living small helps with that a LOT. RVing helps "force" us to stay focused on that - this past year being in a house (after the two previous years in an RV) showed us how easy it is to slip back into buying junk and wasting time doing nothing.

Our first night out we stopped in Sterling CO at the rest area. That night was a super bad storm with hail, 120 MPH micro bursts and lightning. Got a hole in the forward vent cover and a couple holes in the roof. It rained for 2 days and now that it's dry, I'm putting caulk on the roof, replaced the vent cover and am installing a couple of vent protections. Fun first week of Rving.

I think on a hot day you will miss the daytime shades. They drop yhe heat in our rig without blocking too much light. Also we have spent nights in RV parks where there are overhead lights where we sure enjoyed having the blackout blinds. The factory valances stop them from moving around. I am watching the video and the nice curtains you put in your rig are not blocking any light. We have a Bounder with the stock shades and valances and love them.
@Five2Go
@Five2Go 4 жыл бұрын
We were in full Colorado sun in that campground and the windows were almost cool to the touch inside, we were really surprised. We're pretty sure they're double pane and the tint is pretty good too. We all really like natural light though so as long as heat isn't an issue we're happy. We will have the roller shades with us if we need to put them back up for the summer, but we'll probably cut some reflectix to fit the windows first though. Our last rig had blackout shades similar to what we took off of this one and they couldn't compete with reflectix when it came to reducing heat. The shades still let heat in and then they trap it between the shade and window so it bleeds into the rig. If you can get reflectix cut to shape so it is snug against the glass it works way better (but it doesn't look so great).

I love the Turkish towels (peshtemals). Be sure to get 100% cotton - bamboo shrinks big time. I also learned to look for the ones with tightly twisted and knotted tassels. I also learned to tighten each and every knot AFTER their first wash & dry. Then they're good to go. The thickness of them does vary greatly. I like each in different situations. Be sure to use them single layer against your skin or else it just sort of slides around against itself and doesn't do much good. I got a set of "Childrens Towel" in a set of 4 on eBay that I use as hand towels. I'm not sure if they're big enough for a kid's bath towel or not - they're 100*60 cm. I would recommend getting a couple from different sources to see what you prefer and then going back for more of what you like best. You can color code by person or get a matched set. They do dry super fast and take up SO much less space. Hope you like them as much as I do.

I also really like the hand towels from ebay: Childrens Towel 100% Turkish Cotton Beach Bath Pool Hammam Peshtemal x4 from the seller rinkit_limited. There are others I like, but these are good for getting a bunch and are definitely cheaper than others I don't like any better than these. I had heard a lot about Turkish Towels and wanted to try them for myself. We live in the Gulf Coast area of Texas where the humidity is like a sauna. Regular Terry towels tend not to dry completely after use and hanging up to dry, , even with the AC roaring. This leads to yucky mildew smells that stay in the towels even after I would wash with super hot water, vinegar and all the other tricks. I found some Turkish Towels on Amazon that were reasonably priced and bought 2 for my husband and i to try out. They are Bazaar Anatolia brand. At first, my husband said it was like drying off with a curtain, LOL. But he's grown to like them. They do become softer and more absorbent with each wash. What I like about them is that they take up less room, but more importantly, they dry quickly after use. We've had them for about 6 months now and no mildew smells. I would say to give them a try for several months before you make up your mind about them. We don't have our rig yet - still researching, but when we do hit the road, I plan to bring Turkish towels with us.

We have a class c and removed our window corniness/valances, which had Roman shades attached. I bought blackout pleated honeycomb shades from Home Depot and love them. They’re not cheap cuz our windows are 64” wide, but really keeps the daytime heat out.

We were a little worried about losing the blackout shades, but we were in full Colorado sun in that campground and the windows were almost cool to the touch on the inside. I don't know for sure, but I think they're double pane plus they have really good tint on them. We were really surprised by how much heat they blocked!

It's always good to go with your gut instinct with the weather, any sustained winds over 20 MPH and any gusts over 25 MPH I will alway "Turle Up" i.e. bring in the slides. Better to be safe then sorry. Awnings and slide toppers replacement can get very expensive, especially when it's 100% preventable. Plus when the slides are in, it is less frontal mass area for the wind to hit. You made the right dicision. We have a similar Samsung fridge, I use the 16" to 28" Camco Double refigerator Bars Part Number 44073. They work great.
@Five2Go
@Five2Go 4 жыл бұрын
We were super paranoid about the awning in our last rig and have seen quite a few flipped over or ripped off. The slide toppers are definitely new to us though and they're obviously more secure than awnings but we really have no idea what they can withstand... Thanks for the recommendation on the bars - we were hoping there were other solutions but it's looking like it's going to be bars 😂

It can be a pain in the neck because it doesn't slide easily with every day use, actually it doesn't slide on the glass shelf at all. I get used to lifting the bin up and out of the fridge, but it does help keep things from shifting while driving. • And, poor Vector. I hope he's healing well ❤

I have been meaning to ask you where you got your outside mat that I have seen in your later videos. I really like how breathable it I'd and how small it folds up

We switched from the heavy plastic mat we started with to this much larger and lighter weight one: amzn.to/32wlsqF It's a bit pricey but it was definitely worth the upgrade. It covers way more ground and doesn't hold water or most dirt. We love it.

Where did you get Vector's brace? My dog has a tear as well. Does he wear it all the time or do you take it off? Can't wait for you all to get back on the road!! Very excited for you!

It's a Walkabout Harness. There are a lot of options for these online and we opted for one of the more affordable ones to see if it helps. So far it appears to be giving him more comfort and confidence with that leg. We take it off if we're not home and at night, otherwise he has it on.

Hi, just curious how much you spent in fuel from Ocala to your place in CO. ??

Gas was really cheap back in April and the dealership started me with a full tank so I think I only spent around $300-350.

Try LL BEAN water hog doorway mat. They collect all the dirt & water. Microfiber towels are amazing for the shower. They dry quickly.

Hello Five2Go family! We lived in Florida for 14 years - I guarantee that is will be crazy hot and humid. One thing that has worked well for us is Reflectix insulation for all of the windows AND for lining upper cabinets - especially those that are part of a slide. We get ours at Menards. You don’t have to put it up permanently - just fit it to windows and close your curtains behind it. Best wishes getting ready in the next two weeks! Take care - Mike

We spent a lot of time in our last RV in hot climates, including Florida - we know all about reflectix! 😂

I get where you wanna go with this Lotta kids for years tops because they’re gonna be grown and that’s a small space and Florida is hot and muggy and nasty and bug infested unless you’re in a house with Central Kool

We've spent plenty of time in Florida and are looking forward to spending another winter there. Our last RV only had one AC but this one has two so we're good to go!

We have the Turkish towels and love them. We ordered them from Amazon. Six different colors and dry very quickly.
