Getting started with industrial sketching with digital drawing tablet XP-Pen Deco Pro in Sketchbook

So The people from XP-Pen sent me their Deco Pro tablet for me to try out. It has been a while since I used a non-screen tablet but it was really fun jumping back into this. Tale a look and see what I think of the tablet but more importantly, I talk about what you have to watch out for when getting started with digital drawing with a drawing tablet.

Never drawn before, let alone digitally, but two days ago bought this tablet and to my surprise, I didn't have this issue of not having muscle memory for the tablet. I immediately started drawing without having trouble drawing on one area and seeing the result on another. People even suggested getting monitor-tablets as a first graphical tablet for that very reason - that I need to get accustomed to it but there was no such problem. No accustomization is needed. Weird. And good thing as well.

Hey man. Thanks for doing this. I've been an artist all my life and finally realized that not switching to digital is only hurting my ability to make better, or faster works of art. Thanks for reminding me to keep at it over and over. I'm terrible with patients and NY pride is way out of tune when it comes to trying to discipline myself with a new skill. I'm following u now and will just try to draw something each day. It just gets so difficult because ai can barely figure out how to work the mac I got to do all this stuff on. Feels like I'm in 3rd grade all over again and just want to throw the keyboard through the screen. Ugh.

Great video review of the product. I still draw digitally with a Wacom Bamboo cth 146. I think i bought it in 2000. It still serves me well. I think the dial might work really well with the 'Sketchable' drawing app. Thanks for the sketchable videos. They are my 'Go to' resource.

Very cool! My first tablet (which I still have.....but can’t use because it’s soooo old), is the Wacom 1st Gen Intuos 12x12. I’m on my 3rd tablet now, the Huion 1060Pro. It took me about 3 weeks to get used to the Wacom when I first started, but one]ce you get used to it then it becomes very natural. I also have and use my iPad Pro 12.9 with Apple Pencil....again another tech thingie to get used to. I use both depending on what I’m trying to achieve. I have this xp-pen deco pro - works good! - and, just adding - shoul be used with mobile/tablet (!) because Sketchbook pro is also on Android OS - for example. Comment to super expensive screen tablet: yes, Cintiq is, but: XP PEN Artist pro 15,6 is a friction of that price, and beat Wacom Cintiq... at least for me has everything what you need.. Another option is Huion - same quality. So presently I switch between screen tablet and xp pen deco pro... Especially, going to holiday, etc, and want to learn Sketchbook pro, or just play, use tablet, or even phone... xp-pen you need connect just with usb-c cable... nice.. thank you for your videos, Laci... Was i so excited about the drawing tablet that i forgot there was a glove included 😅. 1 week later. My pet peeve is that when i stay on one spot for too long or press on the pen a bit too hard the brush, color short cut pops up and i end up changing colors with out noticing

i wanted a screen tablet but i couldn't get used to the couple millimetres offset..the parallax is minimal but just couldn't get used to it ..

Just bought X Pen Deco 01 but can't get it to work with Sketchbook on a Mac running Big Sur. Any tips?

Hey! I want to get into Industrial Design as a career and in college, and have been thinking of learning design sketching, as I am more into the CAD modelling aspect. I am not the best sketcher, but think I can do well enough with some practice. Would I be able to create proper design sketches with this tablet as a beginner?
