Getting Started with LaTeX

In this video, we install tools and develop a workflow for generating documents in LaTeX. Specifically, we cover how to install and configure MiKTeX and Texmaker and use them to generate LaTeX documents. We also provide a set of sample files that can be used to test your installation as well as provide code samples for various items in LaTeX such as figures, tables, citations, equations, sectioning, etc.

I know this is an old video by now but I wanted to also leave a comment saying thanks! My math professor this semester told us we were supposed to use LaTeX for doing all our homework and creating documents online for turning in, and then proceeded to give us zero instruction on how to do so, so you're video has been a fantastic help!

Thank you for your nice and crystal clear video. I've followed it scrupulously, step by step, but when executing the Quick Build for the first time (as you do in 17:56), I get the error: Error : could not start the command : pdflatex -synctex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode "SimpleDocument".tex I've not being able to find the meaning of this message by looking for it in Internet. Could you please give me some suggestion to fix the error? Thanks in advance!

I had the same error at first. During the MiKTeX installation I had an error, but I left it ignored. What I've done to fix this issue is, I reinstalled both MiKTeX and Texmaker. You can uninstall Texmaker using the uninstall.exe in the installation folder, and you can run MikTeX Console, go to Cleanup and uninstall it from there. After uninstalling, try installing them again, and if you get an error during in one or both of the install processes, try downloading the installer.exe files again, maybe they were damaged.
