Getting Started with Polymer Clay: Using Matte Varnish

3 жыл бұрынIn this tutorial I'll show you how to use matte varnish on polymer clay. It's quite different from gloss varnish as it will leave a dull finish, rather than shiny. It will also dull the colors slightly. Keep in mind that the varnishes I use are the ones I recommend. If you use different matte varnishes please let me know in the comments.

I have bought this Liquitex a while ago. I really don't like it. After varnishing my clay jewellery with it after a few days it makes my jeweller all sticky. Now I am using Water-Based Polyurethane varnish and liking it.

I'm a newbie and bought the Liquitex, but it doesn't say how to clean your brush when done. Will it ruin the brush if I try soap and water first and if that doesn't work try say paint thinner next?

I do not see much difference visually between the sanded pieces at the beginning and the varnished pieces at the end. In person, is there much difference? If your answer is ‘not much’, are there other benefits to varnishing? Thanks.

Hi is the varnish toxic? Do i have to wear a mask? I am looking for a resin alternative for my real flower projects that I put on air dry clay

What else could you use instead of paint thinner? Would acetone nail polish remover work?

How about daler rowney soluble gloss/Matt varnish? Does it work on any polymer clays?
