Hey!! great work!! You can thin down Tamiya paints with Isopropyl or denatured alcohol. It is way cheaper and works great in my opinion. I would love to hear you opinion in a future video!! Keep up the good work!!

I will give it a try! I recently learned you can search for pretty much any commercially available chemical’s Safety Data Sheet and see exactly what’s in it. X20-A is 55% water and 45% alcohol. I’ll try it next time around!

@@commonostrichYT where do you find the sheets? I am looking for ammo by mig’s thinner but can’t seem to find it…

@@nothisismine Unfortunately I don't know of a sort of centralized database that has all of them. In my video on weathering the LAV-25 I show an example of the ones that I found for X20-A. I just did some google searches for "Tamiya Thinner Safety Data Sheet" and it was one of the first results. If you have the UPC of the product you might be able to find it, or you could even try emailing Mig directly. I don't fully know the laws around it though so they might not have to disclose it to consumers.

@@commonostrichYT awesome, I will try to email Mig seeing as I’ve tried googling it but couldn’t find anything…

Get some disposable gloves, they really help! Welcome back to the hobby, get a few models under your belt then build that Pz II again. Watch those gaps!

Very nice . . . sometimes I think an un-weathered model looks great. But that's just me.

If you enjoy it, it great. I love going back sometimes and work on something old, in show box I have two or three that still are not done, one I specifically knew, I needed more time to finish it way I wanted. Now that would take a few hours and I keep saying I get back as I work on something new.

As an old Timer in this hobby, I like to wash my model after all the building is done. It's just my way , not necessarily the way others might do it. I've found that over the years the more you build , the more your skills improve. Just don't be afraid to try out new techniques. It's a great hobby. And remember to have fun with it . And one more thing, your videos are very good. Keep up the great work 😊

Great video! Keep up the good work. For cleaning the model before primer, you can use IPA if you are in a pinch for time. Also, I've learned to store my airbrush disassembled in water when I'm not using it. I find I get a lot less clogs that way, because the airbrush never dries out. For the tracks, I find that I get some really cool effects by using pigments to simulate dust, rust and dirt. Looking forward to seeing your next video.

Thanks for the advice! I tried out some more tracks in my latest video. This week I'll be sure to work on some new weathering effects as well.

You might want to try Tamiyas lacquer thinner for their acrylic paints. Its pretty widely considered to be superior to their acrylic thinner. Of course, its still not cheap.

No joke that’s one of the kits I started with and it looks almost exactly the same. Haven’t tried weathering sense and have 15 kits finished and painted ready for weather in..

Dear Mr Ostrich, I think you did a cracking job- spill some primer just for good luck, dry the model etc and you used the word “crevice.” What’s not to like? Subbed, Regards, Z

Your first model is better looking then my first 3 :D 2 painted by brush and no one weathered :D no talk about diorama :D There is any ideas with making model only with brush?

Thank you! I might take a crack at some figures, but I probably won’t do a full model with just a brush. I love my airbrush too much to not use it!

Good video, but in my opinion if you are just starting out with scale modeling, I think that you would be hand painting. I don’t think people would be shelling out hundreds of dollars for an airbrush and compressor. I didn’t get an airbrush straight away when I first started building scale models.
