Hey man cheers and thank your from niagara canada - HUGE Props for capturing the HONEST tone of this amp, ive had 5 non master marshalls wich as this all because i wanted to chase the dream of the evh brown sound " the other great tones of steve stevens and george lynch who all used plexis and super leads for their early tones BUT everyone who is usually doing the same on youtube only shows these non master volume amps through load boxes / IR's. Dont get me wrong , its a fantastic tool and makes the 1987x and SLP more manageable for us mortals but the big catch is that it down right does not sound this way through a real cab; 2x12 , 4x12 or with attenuation running because the the IR's sort of create the most ideal/ perfectly miced emultion of say a 4x12 of greenbacks so yes in that case those videos NAIL the brown sound pretty easily ; even if everything else on the guitar end of things is different like a les paul or a different super strat with different pickups etc They still end up sounding like EVH or early george lynch ( i can link you the guys channel im talking about ) and i think theres a reason why some guys like that dont have any videos of the plexi or SLP through a real cab because thats where the real brown sound rabbit hole begins. ^ Basically, my conclusion is you need wayyyy more gear if you skip the IR load box solution itself to sound like EVH will a plexi do rock ?acdc ? Zepplin ? And even some kind diamond like you showed in the metal video ? Sure. But for the brown sound i just think it was the biggest well marketed myth that " turning a plexi or SLP up to 10 on every knob gives you van halen " lol it sounded nothing like that for me and i owned 6 of them. Even with the fryette ps100 it gave a coop rock sound or this fuzzed out spitty hendrix sound when everything was on 10.. There was absolutely 0 hint of " you really got me " , " running with the devil" or any VH tune on this stock amp even with an attenuator active in the signal. ^ Thats just my 10 cents , maybe if you're possibly planning on making a part 2 video maple with a super strat and or your les paul ( your LP in your other videos sounds great what exact year is it and is it stock ? ) maybe the follow up can be called " how to get late 70s , 80s rock / hard rock toned with the plexi or super leads " That would be amazing because to be honest i love your indepth video analysis video / walk through of how the beast known as the plexi works and id like to see what you can come up with for this as classic rock acdc and zepplin it can do for days but getting the plexi to do van halen, george lynch or billy idol is very very tedious i found and much harder to get that overdrive that foes beyond just 70s classic rock lol. ^ Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this message and all the best from canada. Keep up the rocking content please 🙏🤟 - Adam

Thanks! Yeah I agree, recording it with speaker emulation takes a lot of the magic out. I like the tone from the cab. The Les Paul is a 2012, all stock as far as I know. Bought it second hand a couple of years ago.

Oh, one more thing. With this amp it really brings out the way you play. It is really honest that way. A complete joy to play.

Sounds great. Bit of a Jimmy Page vibe, or maybe Malcom Young. My latest settings for my stock 71 1987…. Singlecut LP Special with stock P90’s. Straight into the top left input. Bright vol on 5. Unjumpered normal vol on 6. P 0 B 10 M 8 T 2 Hotplate -8db(bright/deep off) 68 straight cab with the original Pulsonic 25 watt Greenbacks. Guitar tone is usually rolled off to take the edge off on the bridge pickup but sometimes instead I’ll keep the tone up and roll the guitar vol down a little instead as that warms it up(Modern wiring) I agree that rolling off the guitar vol a little and really digging into the strings gives such a cool sound. These amps are just so responsive and you can tell the old classic rock guys used them this way. Haven’t changed the settings for a few weeks and am absolutely thrilled with the tone

Thanks! It is a Deluxe Nashville Telecaster from 1997 Made in Mexico. My first real guitar! It has three tex-mex pickups which I think are supposed to be Mexican versions of Texas specials.
