One of the most rewarding experiences in exploring is when you manage to reach a place that is difficult to get to, and in this case, even a local taxi driver didn't know!
Several miles north from Fujairah, a small fort in amongst a traditional village appears on the map, but in 30 degree heat, even that is quite a trek. Disembarking a mile or so out, I eventually found the small but immaculately maintained fort, built at least several hundred years ago when the emirates of the UAE were all divided.
