i feel like people dislike this band because they only heard SLSP and because 5SOS have been on tour with 1D. but honestly, you should give a shot to songs like Rejects, Social Casualty and etc before you judge them. they're actually quite talented, and you can't really blame them for going on tour with 1D. i mean, they were just kids who played to 200 people, and then 1D offered them tour? how could they possibly decline a chance like that? besides, i know for a fact that some of the 1D fans stopped listening to 1D now that they saw a rockier side and liked it more. seriously, give them a chance. especially to the song Rejects.

I think that 5sos biggest problem is the fangirls. If they weren't as famous as they are they would be much more respected in the "rock world", which means that people don't stop for a moment to listen to their music, they get a lot of hate only because of some inmature fans. Also, being young is a drawback. However, there are many fans that like rock bands and also 5sos, but you can't barely hear from them because they are not as loud as fangirls. Rock Sound has done a great job giving them an oportunity to show people that 5sos are not trying to be a band for teenagers. 5sos started playing music just for fun as any other band, and only because of that I think they deserve some respect (obviously it's not a hardcore band, but it's kind of rocky and it reminds me to All Time Low). Plus, many bands like Sleeping With Sirens, Goldfinger, Good Charlotte, The Cab or All Time Low support them a lot.

Honestly, I think they're just kind of the new generation of pop-punk. Green Day and Blink 182 were once qualified as pop-punk and now, there's a new generation and they're part of it. If All Time Low belongs in RockSound, then 5 Seconds of Summer does too because even though they are more pop than All Time Low, they are still pop-punk!

I think the reason why people think negatively about 5SOS, is because they have the same fanbase as one direction. Because they go touring with one direction, these people automatically associates them as just another "boyband" and that they're not capable of actually being a rock/pop-punk/alternative band (which is ultimately not fair for these guys). I'm glad that both Rock Sound and Alternative Press doesn't think so and that 5SOS gets support from All Time Low.

so I love ATL, Blink-182, linkin park and yes also 5sos. The point is that people only listen to slsp. They are pop/rock/punk kinda and I agree I still think they are a little bit too pop sometimes but please don't send all the hate stuff around... their music is not for everyone so it's fine not to like them, but the hate they are getting is kinda sad (and often from people who don't really know their music)

To be honest I don't know whats wrong with them being on Rock Sound Magazine. I think it is amazing that they got a opportunity to be on the magazine.

Why are people saying 5SOS are ruining music?? So, they're not your type. Even Ashton said that's okay. But this is literally 4 lads doing the thing they love the most and making others extremely happy in the process. They even say to each other all the time 'you're not punk rock'. Half the people commenting on this have probably only heard She Looks So Perfect. Why are people saying they're fake?? They play their own instruments, they don't mime, and when they mess up on stage, they take it in their stride, and in the process they stay grounded and are 100% genuine people. Sending hate to 4 of the nicest people you'll ever meet won't get you anywhere. It won't get them off of this cover, it won't turn their fans against them. So, they could improve things about their sound. I'm sure they're aware of that. So, they're not 100% punk rock and so, they're not Billie Joe Armstrong standard, but they've worked solidly and they've worked hard for 3 years to produce a sound that not only their fans, but they enjoy playing and listening to. They deserve this cover as much as anyone, while they stay humble and true to themselves and the fans. 5SOS aren't going anywhere, nor are the 5SOS fam. And anyone who says they don't deserve this, anyone who says they're fake, and argues that they're not down to earth, do some research. Read their tweets. Just look into it. These are 4 of the most grateful, genuine lads I've ever seen in the music industry and they deserve every second of this. Get over yourselves.

People don't know what to say about 5sos because no band that plays edgy pop music has been on mainstream radio in ages. You should be happy that a new generation is falling in love with the music you grew up with.

5sos live compared to 5sos recorded are like two different bands. I love both but seeing them live was and forever will be one of the best experiences in my life.

I love 5SOS. And I also love a lot of bands much different from them (like Avenged Sevenfold, My Chemical Romance, Sleeping With Sirens, Pierce The Veil). They do some kind of pop-punk (which is more pop than punk, if you really know what pop-punk is), and they're soo good. If someone thinks different than me, that's fine. But people should stop making comments full of hate about them. What's wrong with just saying "I don't like them" or "I don't like their music"? What kind of a silly life must they have to spend they're entire life spreading hate around? Just stop. Do something good, like listen to your music and enjoy it. Don't search for them on the web just to spread hate. Btw, I really love them, and I can't wait to see them in Italy! I hope I could get the tickets in time >.

5SOS are getting the same kind of criticism that the UK band McFly got back in the day. Its not done them any harm, with a decade long career and they're still going strong (currently as McBusted, just headlined London's Hyde Park). They learned a long way back that they weren't going to win over everyone, and that their core fanbase would always be young women. 5SOS look up to them a lot among other bands, so I don't think they really care if they're a 'boyband', just as long as people realise they're talented, too.

i think the reason people hate them is because they only herd 'She Look's So Perfect' and they went on tour with 1D, like first of all you cant describe a whole bands main genre of music by one song. Second of all, if you were a small garage band and One Direction the biggest boy band right now were to ask you to go on a arena tour around the world with thousands of audience members , I'm pretty sure you would go on tour with them. And so what what if they are friend with them? They are also friends with All Time Low and written 3 songs with them.

Here's my two cents about 5SOS: All my life I've grown up listening to Green Day, blink-182, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, all of them. I LOVE Fall Out Boy, Pierce the Veil, Of Mice & Men, Bring Me the Horizon, You Me at Six, etc. When my friend first told me I should listen to 5 Seconds of Summer, I laughed in her face. They toured with One Direction, why the fuck would I want to listen to a bubblegum pop boyband? MONTHS later, when I actually did give them a chance, I realized how wrong I was. These guys play real intruments, they have good riffs in their songs, and the lyrics are pretty good as well. They're being automatically written off because of their fanbase, and because of their touring with One Direction, when if you actually listen to their music, they are VERY similar to All Time Low (they've even written with Alex Gaskarth on multiple occasions) and Mayday Parade. They're melodic pop rock. Plain and simple. Yes, I do think the tour with One Direction was the worst thing they could have done if they wanted to be taken seriously in the rock world. Also, their fans are the worst. They're rude and obsessive and that turns people off of the band too. BUT, when it comes down to it, I think it's unfair to immediatly assume these guys suck without listening to them (or something other than She Looks So Perfect) because a lot of their music is quite rock-ish.
