Күн бұрын

Today we are doing a walkthrough of the the Rifle Model 1898, or Gewehr 98, covering troop rifles and carbines from 1898 through 1945. We will be showing and discussing many examples from both my personal collection and The War Front.

Well thoughtout video Tom. Just discovered your channel. Love it! BTW, my younger cousin in B.C. has a 1938 (I believe) JP Sauer & Sohn K98 that some knucklehead D&T'd for a Redfield scope & mount decades ago. It is still in 8x57 and it is his one & only do it all rifle.

@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Agreed! A real shame indeed! But this boy (actually about 50 now, I believe) is the classic example of beware of the man with but one gun. Only guy I know still using a Lyman 310 tong tool!

The Kar98b should have a k98k style sling cutout, a bolt cutout, as well as a takedown disc. This is a Gew98m with a bent bolt.

From what I’ve seen this isn’t always the case, a lot of them were rebuilt from the Gew98 and kept the original stock configuration. The purpose built 98b always had those features you mentioned, but many were rebuilds

Planting and assembly device in English😂 the official name in the German Empire was „verlängerter Karabiner Modell 98 mit Aufpflanz- und Zusammenstellvorichtung“, extended carabiner model 98 with attachment and assembly device😂
