Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President, Republic of Ghana addresses the general debate of the 76th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (New York, 21-27 September 2021).
The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. Each of the 193 Member States of the United Nations has an equal vote.
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter.
The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world.
But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity.

Industrialization and manufacturing is what we need in Africa, exporting raw materials is what is keeping Africa poor! We need business in Africa and not aid. Africa has receive a lot of aid but still stagnant! Africa needs a good leadership and not the corrupt leaders! Thanks Mr President!

@@itzqueen1531 yes that shows that we are not educated at all. We are simply schooling to be westernized. We lack no Engineering professors nor agric or you name it but see where we are. Until we use our education to do things for ourselves and stop relying on the west, we will go no where. Leadership is all we lack as a people.

Africa needs an enlightened leader like you, Mr President of Democratic Ghana. It is about time we Africans wake up to realize our natural gifts and make things stand on their feet. Enough for the west to blindly rob us of our natural resources and our productive but cheap labor. The west has been living on African charities, yet they have the audacity to claim we Africans depend on Western charity. Why doesn't the west leave Africa to manage its own affairs and see it the west can survive for one year without the rich resources of Africa. It is time that we Africans wake up and see the impacts of colonialism and neo-colonialism and stop the west from its human and material exploitation, and its inhuman divide and rule policy. Thank you Mr President for your timely, effective and courageous message.

He is making the same mistake that he initially mentioned about avoiding at the start of his speech.......Why does Africa believe they need European/American/Asian assistance/aide? These regions built their prosperous economies from Africa natural resources; Why can't Africa do the same? Until Africa demonstrates self-determination and self-sustainability there will be no respect especially where there's acceptance of aide, handouts and charity - such does not reflect sovereignty; Africa needs to take control of their natural resources and build a prosperous economy independent of international concerns first - before taking on International concerns;

African countries need to have one leader or Blocks of West Africa&East Africa &North Africa& Southern Africa to speak on behalf of the continent at annual UNGA meetings. Individual country speeches is frankly not weighty. Major improvements will start to happen - This is why America will always be America - individual world countries competing against 52 states thus 52 countries. Can’t compete with such a power in economic,political,social etc. on the world stage EVER!
