@@PixelMochi she's singing waiting for her lover to come back from battle, he never does so now she 'haunts' the tavern. You can meet the apparition of her lover at the end of the game. Really great game.

@@holybro7420 it was a phenomenal game! And so was the second one! I am very upset that the third one never came to fruition. Very much a missed opportunity. I feel like this could also spin off to make great MMO as well. I could easily have played 5-6 different versions of this game.

Aloysius Whiteboat - Every time I heard Bartley talk about high quality and low prices, I thought of Gheed the merchant / gambler from Diablo 2. So whenever Bartley would say, "You'll find our shop has excellent weapons at reasonable prices." I would always mentally add, "... and come with a two-day warranty!"

@Niek Warnas i did here rumours. It had potential to be revisited. Just rumours though. Remember, companies die, but the devs are mostly still around. After 20 years Human Head is remaking a game like Rune and Beamdog is remastering Bioware and Black Isles old games. Beamdog may be your best hope for a continuation. Barring that we may never see another Dark Alliance Game.

I actually read about, and saw a trailer for a new game called dark alliance that's supposed to be something akin to a reboot for baldurs gate DA. Unfortently it's not following the story of the old games and will follow drizzt and his companions.

When I was younger, one of my closest friends and I had a weird tradition where we would co-op this game the day before we went to the Renaissance Festival when it came around each year. Start-to-finish in one afternoon. We'd do it every year. There were so many times we'd pass out late into the night after our adventures, with the Elf-song tavern melody quietly playing on the TV. Every time I hear this song, It invokes these memories. Great nostalgia, great song, and most importantly, a great game.

In my Hoard of the Dragon Queen campaign, my players stayed in Baldur's Gate for a week. During the downtime I played this song and told them the story of what it was sung for, but tweaked so each of them heard a song tailored to them, as they all had loss in their backstory's and I made the one player cry.

The Last Evolved I say the same thing about every game made in the early 2000’s... This one though was especially memorable to me personally. Every member of my family played and beat this game. Ha... a friend watched me play this game way back when on his old ps2 for 2 minutes, and he knew he wanted to start a file of his own... One game I will always remember.

This game was short and simple, and really that's what made it so good. It never overstays its welcome and you're yearning for more and maybe you'll find out how to open that secret wall in the cellar your next playthrough or beat the beholder in one hit with an Onyx sword and 39 strength via rings and amulets, there was just so much replay value in this early and simple Ps2 game; which is why the Ps2 will always be the best system to have ever existed. Every good game pushed the limits of what was possible on the console and gave us memorable music, scenes, gameplay, and characters.

Only short if you are playing on easier modes. Harder modes, and even more difficult doing level 1 Extreme runs, take a long time.

Note that this video ostensibly the song the elf spirit normally sings, supposedly of a "long-lost lover" - however, the song the spirit sings in the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus D&D 5e adventure (whose lyrics you've posted) is one nobody has ever heard her sing before.

@@eddieflores5389 No it isn't, those are lyrics to a different song sung by the same ghost in the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus campaign, a prophecy that none had ever heard before. Before now she'd only sung this tune. The spirit that haunts the tavern is the ghost of an elven woman whose husband who voyaged out to sea to defend Baldur's Gate, promising her he would return...but he never did. She passed away, still mourning for her lost love, having sung of her sorrow and despair, pining for him to return to her. So great was her sorrow that it continued even into the afterlife...and she could never rest until he was reunited with her once more. Eventually, far away and centuries later, a party of adventurers (In Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance) found a ghost in a lonely island fortress, who happened to be her husband, having died trying to stop a great evil. The adventurers freed him, and both he and his wife passed into the afterlife together...that is until she was brought back into existence to haunt the tavern once more... Beautiful song isn't it? I've heard her song a hundred times, and each time it still moves me, It's the spirit of an elven woman, she owns this tavern singing every couple nights ... No one truly knows why,. her spirit was here when I bought this tavern, some say she sings for a lost love, a solider who fell defending Balder's Gate, they say she sings in the hope she will hear her voice and return home, still, that's nothing but heresay, and Tales, Welcome to the Elf song Tavern, now... what can I get you?

@@MrKushGuy Yep. A couple says there are a couple taverns in Baulder's Gate they want to check out, and you can suggest they go to Elfsong. They say they'll buy you a drink if they meet you there. It's in Act 2 though, which as of 11/8/20, has yet to be released.

When i was young kid i own a ps2 got this game it was fun i thought about this song as guardian of hope when there is evil rising a dead army or bandits monster's new bosses when playing a different adventure like elder scrolls oblivion skyrim and my all time great game Gauntlet dark Legacy with four players wish a new elder scrolls could have a four players for once it be like Gauntlet adventure.

Starting new characters, then loading them into Extreme New Games for the most absurd of difficult runs. Truly, the hardest part of the game doing this was any point with tons of projectiles, as they 1-2 shot you most of the game, and the Crypt boss with the Orb. Trying to kite and kill the mobs, and DPS the orb over and over took so long that just about any amount of recovery you had was not enough. That orb was borderline immortal in such a playthrough.

Me and my dad sat and finished this game twice, once in normal, once in extreme, still a very fond memory, such a fantastic game, I was like 8 or 9 and it had just come out, it was such a great time.

OMG, me too!! I honestly RUSHED to the tavern JUST for this song. I was immensely disappointed!!! But I'm glad we're able to camp there and hear a new song that is beautiful and lovely to listen to. Still, I would have loved to get lost in her call once more.. to hear her beautiful eerie voice like we used to. 😢❤
