LiDAR mapping helped locate some cellar holes at an abandoned coal mine. So we biked in to explore, and will definitely return again! We found some great relics from days gone by, and enjoyed a stellar spring day!

Thanks for the encouragement, Lee! I fancy myself as somewhat of a "trend-setter" in high fashion, so I wouldn’t be surprised if everybody’s wearing TWO sets, soon!🤣🤣🤣 Honestly though…I just needed to see…I couldn’t afford to care about how I looked.

I've seen on another video that those odd harmonica reed plates are more modern and have a high zinc composition that causes the corrosion

That wheel may have been from a baby stroller. I found 2 at a mine town and I had to sit back and reflect on this young mother, struggling to push her stroller over uneven ground , while her husband was deep digging in a mine. That hole, not being a foundation, might be an exploratory hole, looking for a coal seam.

Yes, that makes sense too. It was pretty delicate, so I’ll go with stroller wheel! Thanks!

I’ve seen modern ones like them; called “tremulo” harmonicas. But the trees growing out of the foundations tell me that it’s been a century since the mine shut down…so it must have been old.

@@user-nu7uk7jl5z Let me ask you this. When was the last time you saw somebody break out a harmonica and go to town in the United States?
