I have wanted to visit Bodie. I have seen it on The History Channel a few times. I like how the California State Park system is keeping it in a state of 'arrested decay'. There really are quite a few building still standing, but I guess in the desert, decay is slower that it is here in the Midwest. Very cool. 😊👍

Bodie sure is in the middle of nowhere! Quite a long drive to get there, but well worth it- thanks for bringing us along. The old wooden structures that remain seem to be meeting the test of time- seems pretty dry there. Hard to believe the mines produced so much gold and other metals, and then closed down pretty quickly, but I guess that’s the boom and bust cycle. I have to wonder if the towns were built to be temporary or did they think their town would last? Thanks! 🙌🙌
