Hey Monkeyfamily!
This week I take a look at the 2016 and 2020 versions of the Ghostbusters Edition Monopoly sets from Parker/Hasbro.
Join me as I compare the sets and examine some of the differences between each release.

Hey Monkeyboy! I too love the Ghost Busters franchise (at least the first two films and the Real Ghostbusters cartoon)! I never seen their Monopoly game on the shelves, but I do own the Star Wars one (and the Star Wars version of Life). I have never seen nor heard about a MOTU version of Monopoly, so that is one I would like to see. Either way, until the next video, have yourself a pleasant week!👍🐒

Dear full cow, Nice to see these ghostbusters versions of monopoly compared. I think both look nice, that ghost trap card holder of course catches my attention. I like the design of the 2016 game board and the icons a bit more than the ones in the 2020 version. Recently I looked up the GB version of Ghost castle, the game was perfect for a Ghostbusters conversion. Have a nice week sir!

Those are two very nice sets. I haven't actually played Monopoly for over forty years, but I still have my Dad's original set from the 1940s or 50s which I definitely plan on using in the not too distant future.

@@MonkeyboysToys Yes, it’s the same game. From memory, the tokens are made of pewter and the houses are made from wood. No plastic in ‘em days 👍🏻

The glasses could be Egons or Louis or even Janine. The sound box / trap is a nice touch. The 2016 has the better tokens, but I like the colour theme of the later set.

I feel the same about the colour theme in the 2020 set and I do enjoy the sound box too. Yeah, the tokens are a bit better in the 2016 set. I'm very happy to have both sets in my "possession" (see what I did there?). Now I just need to find a minimum of two other friends willing to play the game! Thanks for watching, LM! 🙏🐵

That’s because nobody follows the rules properly, making the game last for hours, and often giving someone an early advantage. It’s mainly the rule about auctioning off the properties that gets ignored, as far as I can tell. There are far better board games anyway.

Hi MB! I really like those sets- wouldn't've known they they existed without watching! I thought the 202020 set character pieces were quite sweet once i imagined the glasses were Janine's! - the Cello, obviously Dana's, extrapolating; I'd say the Walkie Talkie was Peter's from when he was slimed, Goggles for Ray, PKE for Egon, and Proton pack for Winston, -just because I can picture him pulling it over his shoulders- although that does leave Louis/Vince without a piece ... but I think Janine is more important, and she makes me laugh, so I think it's sweet :) You are sounding under the weather my good man :( - I was tempted to quote the whole Star Trek, McCoy 'don't destroy the one named Kirk' Soliloquy - better I just say; Take care of the one Named MonkeyBoy! I Hope you're on the mend Dude! All the best! & LLAP ;)

Nice comparison video, if you put the player tokens from the 2020 set with 2016 set then you would have the ultimate Ghostbusters monopoly. Shame they didn't put all the pieces in zip lock bags......

I found it interesting that they redesigned the whole board and the pieces for the 2020 set. You would think that they would've just pumped out an exact copy with a packaging refresh. It's nice to have both versions though, so I'm not complaining. Thanks for watching dude! 👍🐵

Nice look at the GB monopoly games. I never knew these existed. I think i prefer the look of the second one for some reason. Looks more traditional and has better playing pieces. I still have my largely unused original Star Wars monopoly. Thanks for the video! 🎞📖🎞

I still have my Star Wars Monopoly as well, only played it once I think. Thanks for checking out the video, it wasn't the most exciting but I did want to show these cool sets. Each one has its pros and cons but I love them both! Cheers again dude! 👍🐵

@@MonkeyboysToys if I had to choose only one, it would be the second 2016 one, but the first one is pretty eye catching. I've never seen them, so it was pretty exciting!

The only thing that lets the 2020 version down is the slightly weaker choice of player tokens. Other than that it's a solid set with a fun musical gimmick. Thanks for watching dude! 👍🐵

Nice stuff. I wonder how many licensed Monopoly games remained unplayed versus how many started Monopoly games are unfinished. I don't play much but can't remember the last time I finished a game of Monopoly. There are a lot of licenses versions, I sort of think of them as mastering that along with Lego. Although I don't like the trend of the square boxes. I like the old rectangular ones. Do you generally keep your games MIB like your action figures? I have a few games that I have never played but they looked cool so bought them. Have a great week. Thanks.

I preferred the rectangular boxes too. I have the Star Wars one and it looks cool. I don't really have many board games but all of them have been opened with the exception of the 2016 Ghostbusters Monopoly, which I would be happy to open if I had at least two willing people with which to play. Now that you mention it, I can't ever remember finishing a game of Monopoly. Is there an end? I haven't played it in so long I can't remember how the game is finished. Yes, like Ashens I chose the sofa because it is the only space available in my house. We also both live in the same city! I have been wondering whether these were worth getting. I have the G1 Transformers Monopoly but it just doesn't feel different enough from yer actually Monopoly. "Monopoly Cheaters Edition" and "Monopoly Gamer" both introduce new rules which make it more intriguing.

"Cheaters Edition" sounds interesting, I shall have to find out more. Didn't know there was a Transformers set. I guess now I'm collecting Monopoly sets ffs 😅😅🐵

@@MonkeyboysToys I didn’t know about the G1 Transformers Monopoly either until I saw a guy on Facebook selling G1 Transformers Risk and the Monopoly as a bundle and bought them immediately. I thought they only did the “Bayverse” Risk, but there was another!

@@MonkeyboysToys Smosh did a video on the Cheaters Edition which gives you a good idea of how it works. Search for “Monopoly but everyone’s cheating (Board AF)” but it maybe should come with a warning about the energy levels they give off. ;P
