Afterlife I felt was such a good conclusion to the franchise and a perfect way to close the story especially with the tribute to Egon/Harold Ramis at the end. I knew that by continuing the series there would be a lot of issues, and it seems my worst fears have come true with this new film.
@FatGuyGolfАй бұрын
The key was they made it like a back alley budget friendly investigative movie. That forces you to build characters. Create tension and plot points. Sony saw the box office and just wanted the money. Jason took YEARS to develop the Afterlife script. This one feels like they held a gun to his head for 4 months to write it and he just threw it at Gil.

Making Egon a deadbeat dad who deserted his family and his friends?

@@spenser9908 but it makes sense. Think of Sheldon Cooper having children. Egon even procreating - the idea is awkward. They leave the how/when/why up to imagination and I'm fine with that. You perfectly hit the nail on the head. nothing in this movie felt like it was complete, including the characters, like you said, WAY too many that it destroyed any attempt at a storyline, Finn served no purpose whatsoever, and the biggest thing they had going for this movie was Slimer, and they even blew that. I also noticed there was no real music in the film, nothing fun, or upbeat, until they drop the main song at the end. The "frozen empire" built up slowly to ... nothing. If you're going to freeze NYC, show us a frozen NYC. Set the main fight OUTSIDE in the FROZEN city, not snug inside a corner of the firehouse. And the main "ghost" was a complete failure in my opinion. It looked like they borrowed one of the demons from Scooby Doo, instead of actually getting creative and giving us a Ghostbusters worthy character like the original marshmallow man. I went in with an open mind, and no expectations, and was still completely disappointed.

The best thing I can say about the movie w/o spoilers is that it made me want to see the original and there's no need for a soundtrack, it pretty much mirrors the original throughout, which was kinda nice, and Ernie looks great! The really funny parts were few and far between. Timing was off. It was nice to see the OGs, but, yeah, they need to give it up.
@CreepyUncleIdjitАй бұрын
The fact they couldn't get Rick Moranis to reprise his role is simply baffling. The guy lives in New York City, where a decent amount of the movie was filmed. How in the hell was Ryan Reynolds able to get Moranis to film an ad for Mint Mobile but no one could get him in Frozen Empire? Not saying he could have saved the film, but it shows how little care was given to film in general.
@andrewbloom7637Ай бұрын
Rick has been very selective about his roles ever since his wife, costume designer Ann Belsky, passed away from cancer in 1991, due to raising the couple's two children. With that said, a film's audience score doesn't dictate its performance at the box office; positive reviews frequently result in larger audiences, whereas less-than-favorable reviews may deter potential viewers from seeing a movie, which would result in a subpar box office performance. If the mixed reception for "Frozen Empire" is any indication, the film (and the franchise) is done for.

To be honest frozen empire was a 9 out of 10 movie for me, it was a bit slow, maybe a previous encounter with the boss ghost would have help but overall I watched it twice. The last movie that got me to do that was endgame. Dan aykroyd was awesome along with the new cast.

I KNEW IT! I could tell from the numerous clips they’ve released, which all had not only the WORST dialogue I’ve heard in a film since the last 10 Marvel movies,, but delivered with ZERO enthusiasm. All the clips were boring… like they were trying to hide the fact that the rest of the film was going to be as dull. Thanks for confirming my suspicions Jeremy. I’ve come to trust your opinions.

I LOVED Afterlife! Not only was it a great follow up, it was a good film on its own as a jumping on point for new viewers. I was so excited for this film but the more they showed of it, the less enthusiastic I was, to the point I’m debating even going to see it in the theater.

I really enjoyed the film but I felt there were too many characters introduced. I loved seeing the OG characters back! There were a lot of instances where I thought the scene plot would have a great pay off but it fell short and I was left underwhelmed. Regardless, I still suggest going and checking it out in the theaters for the fun factor, clear your mind, grab some popcorn 🍿 an icee...then enjoy! But for my hardcore diehard fans of the franchise, just a heads up it might not be your cup of tea but I still feel you will enjoy your time watching the proton packs/og crew return to the big screen and you will find yourself laughing at some slapstick one liners but I would suggest not going in with high hopes....I told myself leaving the theater, maybe on the next one 🤞
@BritneyLaZongaАй бұрын
I admit I was entertained because I knew what was coming cameo-wise and in terms of nostalgia bate. I mean, there are good ideas there, good set ups, Visuals that landed well (i liked the posessor jumping through the glass) ... I am a sucker for the new tech and uniforms (black version and the red parkas are cool) ... a ghost posessing the Ecto 1 and even a proton gun is an entertaining idea. The proton packs of all things being rendered useless is a good idea. But they threw those ideas away super quick. And the solutions (if there where any) where sloppy at best. Bill Murray interrogating Kumail Nanjiani could have been a highlight if they wanted to, but the only idea they had with that was throwing pens... oh well. Thematically they could have gone with characters growing "emotionally cold and distant" with each other, maybe even exacerbated by paranormal influence of the chill "ice ghost" (kerlens of that where there with the original team growing apart and also of course Phoebes arc)... then unite again in a meaningful way to defeat the guy. Well, i could go on, but in the end it just made me shrug and say "Jep. That happend."

I would prefer a proper Blood Countess movie based on the infamous historic figure from the 15/16 century named Elizabeth Bathory who bathes in the blood of young girls and of course drinks their blood and devours their flesh. The reason why she would do this is because it would make her younger and more beautiful when in reality she had a massive mental problem.

I do agree with a lot of the points made in this video. I feel like there were certain moments where the film definitely lost the plot and that there were some storylines that were clearly much more interesting than others, and that the movie didn’t pace itself very well. But I genuinely did enjoy the hell out of myself for every moment of this movie and I really do feel bad for the critics who can’t get over the small problems with it. This is a generally funny and very good Ghostbusters movie was there bad moments, definitely. But there’s bad moments in every movie. I think, considering the fact we’re getting Ghostbusters sequels decades and decades down the line and they’re not absolute trash and are actually pretty good with their biggest problem being that they’re having a hard time finding their footing we’re pretty lucky. I really cannot wait to see more of this universe and to see where they take everything.

I honestly did not like Afterlife, the kids were very annoying, and there’s no way a little kid is going to be handling a heavy ass proton pack let alone shoot one with accuracy. Ivo Shandor was still alive but died after 10 seconds of screen time, a huge waste of J.K. Simmons. Gozer obviously forgot that he/she was immune to proton blast or dodge them like in the first movie. Plus Gozer should’ve returned in the form of stay puff because that was the form that was chosen for the earth dimension. The hundreds of ghost traps around the house but there’s no containment unit? I just didn’t like it. I’ll be skipping frozen empire. 1. Ghost Busters 1 2. Ghost Busters 2 3. Ghost Busters The video game 4. Ghost Busters Afterlife 5. Ghost Busters 2016
