While this scene plays very much into the gonzo spirit of the Ghostbusters team, it really makes no sense. With all those police officers and other law enforcement on the scene, they should have been working on evacuating the entire area not merely cordoning off the street. These men were there to hold back an ancient evil not play at a rock concert.

What I love about these characters is that they almost knew that they weren't heroes just winging it but they were the only ones with any clue about what they were facing and the stones to go in and have a go so they almost played it as a parody of heroes but walked that line so perfectly so they were not completely goofy and relatable but real and the new yorkers were just panicked and searching for heroes so they fed into that narrative

As everyone else has said hundreds of times before, this scene is one of the greatest scenes if not the greatest scene in the entire movie. The crowd cheering, the sirens and police escort, the funny line from Peter at the beginning, the epic music, it all adds up to the perfect “the heroes are here” scene. Not every hero needs special powers or a cape, sometimes all it takes is 2 serious scientists, a scientist who acts more like a game show host and a guy who wants a steady paycheck all equipped with unlicensed nuclear accelerators.

It's an ensemble cast that isn't competing with each other for some titanically trifling little nothing the way movies are now days. It's the first buddy flick I ever saw, and to this day colors how I interact with my friends, and what I even look for IN friends.
@ct924047 жыл бұрын
HotaruZoku The awful "remake" was doomed from the very beginning, because their entire motivation for making the movie was for a political agenda. They took an SJW feminist agenda and then slapped on a horrible movie around it. Whereas the original movie was just about making a good, entertaining story with funny, well developed characters. Also, Ghostbusters is a legendary classic, and no one asked for a reboot and no one wanted one. It was doomed to flop. And it did, majorly...Sony-Columbia lost a ton of money on it.
@ct924047 жыл бұрын
wolvieguy yeah, sadly I don't think we'll ever see a decent one. The Tumblrinas permanently ruined the chance. I guess there might still be a slim chance at making one if it was the right producer and director who actually respects the original movies, but the problem is that Harrold Ramis is gone now and the other guys are getting up there. They would have to find a way to explain Egon not being around anymore. I think it could actually work well if it was about the original characters starting to train a new team, in kind of a "passing the torch" thing. That's actually what fans wanted.

Making a movie work is extremely difficult because it's a collaborative process. Ghostbusters stands as one of the few where EVERYTHING worked together perfectly: the performers, writing, music score, songs, sound & visual effects, costumes, cinematography, production design, etc. There is not ONE element that doesn't work with the picture as a whole. It really speaks to the direction of Reitman. He's the one primarily responsible for making it what it is- a perfectly executed film.

Epic scenes like this from an all around epic film is a testament to why the reboot failed. You don't remake a film and try to ride the coat tails of its predecessor, then further try and tell the fans that the characters in your remake are now the new Ghostbusters and to pretend like these guys never existed, and then insult them when your movie flops. Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddemore will always be recognized by everyone as being the true Ghostbusters, that's just the way it is. And during Halloween season such as now when radio stations play the Ghostbuster's theme song and it asks "who ya gonna call?" It refers to and always will refer to these Ghostbusters.
