Ghostbusters:
Suit up for classic comedy! Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) take a chance on going freelance, de-haunting houses in a new ghost removal service. As soon as they open their doors, their first order of business becomes saving beautiful cellist Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and nerdy Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), who’ve inadvertently opened the gates of hell… right in their own apartment building!
Ghostbusters II:
Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), (Egon Spengler) Harold Ramis, and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) take up their proton packs once more to battle the forces of evil in Manhattan! After waging a war on slime that cost New York City millions, the Ghostbusters find themselves out of business until an ancient tyrant, preparing a return to the Earthly domain through his portrait at the Manhattan Museum of Modern Art, sets his sights on Dana Barrett's baby as the new home for his wicked soul! With the help of the Museum's possessed curator, he plans to turn New York into a really scary place to live! Now only the Ghostbusters can save New York City, by turning paranormal pest control into an art form!

Literally gave me nightmares for a while when I first saw the Terror Dog as a kid, and apprehension of closets.

It was sitting on Louis' bed in his bedroom, not in a closet. That scene scared me so bad and also because of sibling torture, I avoided looking in my bedroom every time I passed it, coz I thought I'd see one sitting on my bed one day, waiting to possess me. It didnt help when my brothers said there was one in our attic and the only door to the attic was in my closet, and that a terror dog would come down and sit on my bed and wait for me to see it and then it would possess me! AND that it would happen when I'd least expect it. I was TERRIFIED of looking in my bedroom for YEARS hoping NEVER to see one of those things on my bed EVER. I don't have a fear now, and nothing ever scared me before, or since, except the terror dogs, but with ASSHOLE BROTHERS like that, who wouldn't have the same fear? lol. It wasn't funny for a LOOONNNGGG TIME, but I see the humor in it now. Thank God I wasn't permenantly traumatized by it all.

The foreshadowing of the eagle/ram/gargoyle statue when Louis tries to get in the restaurant was brilliant filmmaking. Maybe I've watched this too many times.

@@TrickyPJM752 Yeah, she was perfect and it was only her fifth lead film role and second comedy. I think they put her in the workout clothes to make her a little more sexy too for the dads in the audience. It was also a brilliant misdirection to have her staring at the door when the hands pop out of the chair.

Zuul was a lot scarier in Afterlife. In the movie, he just lunges at the mom(we see this in her pov),I literally screamed like a girl when I saw it in IMAX

@@systemshocker2875 Maybe, but it was mostly thanks to it being a jump scare. I doubt watching it multiple times would repeat the same scare. When Zuul possessed Dana, there was quite a build up to the possession. Repeat watches of that particular scene would most likely be scary.

I dunno if it’s because I’m older but the Zuul possession scene in the original legitimately terrified me as a child and kept me from watching the film for years. Meanwhile the Zuul possession scene in Afterlife made me jump a little but overall I was just thinking “oh great she’s possessed, but if a rehash but I’ll allow it because this movie’s a blast”

"Ok, who brought the dog?" It's weird though the people living at the apartment or people visiting Luis's apartment can see the terror dog as Luis fled. But the people dining at a restaurant can't see the terror dog. "Nice doggy, cute little pooch. I got a milk bone." Even though scary, I was laughing at just Luis's scene.

If there's one thing I know about the terror dogs, it's that they're butt-ugly beasts. Ever since I had first watched Ghostbusters, I had often wondered why the terror dogs had to possess humans in order to bring Gozer to Earth.

While the composting of the stopmotion footage and live footage is a little dated today, the animatronics are PHENOMENAL!! I'm sure the actors were unnerved by them onset!

It's a comedy and very funny of course, but we can't forget that Ghostbusters had some legitimately pretty scary stuff in it. Some moments are even scarier than most horror movies I've watched.

I think those moments were scarier than horror movies because, well, you kinda expect a horror movie to have frightening stuff. Ghostbusters is a comedy, and you don't expect to see anything actually scary in a comedy, thus, those frightening moments end up caughting audiences off guard.

The odd thing is, I never called them "terror dogs." I just thought of them as bizarro Dana and Louis once it got to that point. Before that, they were just monsters. That's what made the lines "okay, who brought the dog" and "okay, so.. she's a dog" so much better for me. I never heard "terror dog" until many years later. Am I nuts?

When the terror dogs had been brought back for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the practical and visual effects that were used for them were beyond mind-blowing, though I would've preferred having the animatronic and CGI-animated terror dogs still look like how they had appeared of the 1984 film. But nevertheless, the practical and visual effects that were used for them of the 2021 film were still mind-blowing.

There's nothing scarier than being chased out into a crowded street by a monster that specifically wants you and nobody else. I don't care how bad the CGI was back then, those things are raw nightmare fuel.

Of course they weren't going to physically harm Dana or Louis since they were their chosen human hosts...and let's not forget that Zuul and Vinz were prophesied to menace and terrorize humanity for all eternity had Gozer gotten her way.

The feeling and atmosphere of this scene when Zuul takes over is quite spooky compared to later movies.
